so now it's been about9 weeks at this new staff-nurse position. I'm relying on the basic psych finding that it takes himans 3-6 months to adjust to any change. So I'm almost half way there.
I'm still grateful to have this job that allows me to work directly with the seniors in our population. I often have days in which a patient or a relative visible relaxes, in response to insights and education shared. Nursing is, at its roots, teaching. still nice.
on the other hand, partially due to my visual malfunction, it takes me a more time than it would another nurse, to wade through the various history and physical pages that come in with any new patient. The end result is that I often end up staying after I've clocked out, just to read enough to gain a fuller picture.
also, I've discovered that, when my schedule gives me two consecutive tays off, it truly allows me to catvh my breath and to get some other things done. Unfortunately, most of this first 7 weeks of floating have had just one day off at a time. Today is the first time I've had two consecutive days offl I like it! one day to simply rest up and catch my breath and one more, to get gobs of things done. So I've asked that more of the two consecutive days off can be worked into the schedule. we'll see.
We've started to reclaim the yard that surround our home. Having admitted, finally, that neither Steph or I are "yard people," we hired a company to clean up the yard. phase one, clearing out all the stuff that's weeds and brambles, was completed last week. And now our yard, instead of looking like we just don't care...looks clear and clean, but has lots of dirt showing. We're meeting later this morning to consider step two.
Steph and I'll be attending a deepening tomorrow evening, on the book which contains newly translated tablets of Baha'u'llah. The book is "Tabernacles of Unity."
my Juice Plus business continues to grow, despite fairly notable benigh neglect, in my customer service follow-up calls and mailings. I still think it will be adequate for our retirement details, including insurance.
and so, the quest for balance continues. And, for recreation, I've been watching old "Alias" episodes. It's a series which is a bit sch=fi, with CIA componant and a kick-ass competent woman as the lead.
overall, things continue to be interesting, and to be improving on all fronts.
the adventure of life on this earth continues...
