Day 28 - A Tribute To…

May 16, 2010 15:49

 ... my best friend Jim.

From the moment I met you Jim, all those years ago, I knew you were special. The way you smiled at me, the way you protected me; we sought each other out and were stuck like glue.
We were salt and pepper. Peanut butter and Jelly.
Chesapeake blue crabs and Old Bay.
(You get the idea.)

Growing up with you was a treasure. We've had our share of laughs, and we've cried together. We fell in love, and then we fell apart. But through it all, we've always been best friends. We can tell each other anything. We do tell each other everything.
And even though we've had our share of serious fights, we still laugh with each other in the end.
No matter what you think, Jimmy, you will always hold a special place in my heart. Always.

Now, the hard part:
As you slip away from us and take your place in Heaven, I want you to know that I love you. You are loved, Jim. You have always been loved. You may have felt alone sometimes, but know that I was there. I was always there for you, willing to do anything to make you happy. I'm still there for you.
I don't know what I'm going to do without you, Jimmy. Life isn't going to be the same.
Without you here, nothing will ever be the same.

And so for you, I quote your favorite song. Our song.

"You're always in my heart
You're always on my mind
And when it all becomes too much
You're never far behind
And there's no one that comes close to you
Could ever take your place
Cause only you can love me this way."

-"Only You Can Love Me This Way" by Keith Urban-

Go rest with your Maker, Jimmy. Go where cancer won't make you suffer.
Because I love you too much to watch you hurt this way.
