Life had been pretty quiet. Most things had fallen into a pattern. Thankfully, that pattern got less wet as the rainy season finally ended. Though Longshot couldn't stand a set schedule for long. It drove him crazy. Even minor variations didn't soothe his need for something new.
What it took to fix it was a conversation with Dakota, the use of Dakota's truck and boys the next day, lots of grunting, Dakota using his power tools, and a spot on the backside of the house for some minor construction. First, while Longshot was out with the truck, Dakota built a little platform and stairs with the help of Robbie. (Anything to get the boy to stop smooching for five minutes.) Then a tent got erected over it.
Whatever Longshot hauled in with Dakota's truck was quickly put inside the tent and assembled. Though it was left for overnight. In the morning, Longshot and Dakota disappeared again to get some things. Half of it was hauled into the tent. The other half was more supplies for Dakota to make a decorative fence around Alison's koi pond. When everything was settled, Longshot bustled into the house to find his wife while his house guest disappeared to go work on more fencing.
"Ali? Oh, Ali! Where are you, buttercup?"
