The new cat, Sun, actually seemed to enjoy my company this evening! Purring while making eye contact and sniffing my hands that were petting her! Yay for progress! Maybe we'll go to Petco to get the water bottle to squirt fighting cats and pet tags, and try cracking the bathroom door after the kiddos are asleep tomorrow night. Or maybe I'll lock Marmy up so Sun can explore a little before Marmy and she interact. Sun still doesn't love laps or being picked up, and there's still much hissing when I enter the bathroom, but I see a small ray of hope. Perhaps she won't always hate me.
Small, content sigh inserted here.
Arthur took a small step yesterday. He didn't really nail the landing, though. The momentum of moving carried him down and he began crawling without skipping a beat. He's started yelling gibberish at Coco in what sounds like sentences. He'll point to her from across the room and let loose with a commanding, excited tone. It's precious. Collette is so sweet and encouraging to him. She's a marvelous big sister. I thank God for both of my children, and I pray that He will help me to love Him more than these precious gifts he's shared with me. I am tempted to worship creation rather than the Creator.
Off to bed - I am up too late tonight especially considering we had a rough night with Art last night. He has four teeth coming in at once, and I thought we were over the worst of it. But if teeth weren't bothering him last night, then I don't know what was. Am I a bad mother if I'm more excited about Sun's purring than Arthur's faltered step?
Praise the LORD from the earth,
Sea monsters and all deeps;
Fire and hail, snow and clouds;
Stormy wind, fulfilling His word;
Mountains and all hills;
Fruit trees and all cedars;
Beasts and all cattle;
Creeping things and winged fowl;
Kings of the earth and all peoples;
Princes and all judges of the earth (Psalm 148:7-11)
