Ah, yes.  This is one of those curses where everyone goes mad.  If anyone needs me, I'll be hiding until midnight in my laboratory.

Additionally, foul-tempered and unreasonable vampires with penchants for taunting friars and hunters need not reply to this.  We already know that you would like to murder us in slow, horrible ways; listening to you two reiterate that is growing tiresome.

I'm having something of a moral dilemma, but, as I'm supposed to be secretive about the matter, I'm not entirely sure I should reveal anything to you or ask for your help.  I was hoping you would notice how unusually I've been acting--I left hints, you know--and ask what the matter was, as I wouldn't be betraying any oaths to secrecy by replying truthfully.  You haven't, however, and being secretive is more difficult than I had anticipated.

In short, Cardinal Borgia (I don't know him well, but as he's a Cardinal and affiliated with the Vatican of his world, I thought it prudent to listen to him) asked that I spy on this young lady, Seth Nightlord.  I'm to monitor her interactions with certain persons and report regularly to the Cardinal, and avoid telling anyone of this assignment.

Van Helsing, I have no idea what to do.  I'm awful at keeping secrets, and I don't even know why Cardinal Borgia wants Miss Nightlord to be monitored!  If the Vatican of that world is anything like ours, I've undoubtedly stepped into the middle of a vast conspiracy--and we both know that the Vatican is seldom in the right when it comes to conspiracies.  Spying via the network isn't terrible, of course, but I don't want to deliver information to a party that may or may not be working for the greater good.

You'd better be yourself today, or I'm feeding myself to the vampires out of sheer frustration.

Not really, but it sounded like a sufficiently dire threat.

aleera, flailing on the inside, marishka, you are all insane, help, curse, secrets are very secret, city, vatican is morally ambiguous
