Who: Dr. Bruce Banner & Loki Laufeyson
Where: Stark Tower
When: A few nights after the meeting....
What: In which Loki gives Freddie Kruger a run for his money....
Although the tensions and tempers within the tower were mounting to a breaking point with most if not all of the anger directed at one particular God of Mischief, Loki had decided to risk confrontations by venturing out of Thor’s rooms that night. Having grown begrudgingly fond of the pastries known as ‘popped tarts’, Loki wound his way through the floors of Stark Tower in search of the one kitchen that held so many of the pastries within its cupboards. Lord Whiskers followed at his heel. Loki hoped the cat would be useful in detecting any unwanted followers...or spiders.
A small noise caused Loki to freeze and press his back against the wall. Lord Whiskers paused with him, stopping to lick one of his front paws. When the noise did not come again, Loki relaxed. He picked up the pace and treaded his way down another flight of stairs.
He found the checkerboard kitchen easily enough. Opening one of its cabinets, Loki found the stacks of Poptarts neatly lined in rows. He picked one at random and moved to the table. He leaned against it and tore open the box.
Loki did not enjoy this sneaking around business. Not that he wasn’t fond of sneaking about where he didn’t belong he simply wanted to do it on his own terms. Not because it was a necessity for simply wanting a snack and not because he feared retaliation from a certain female assassin. No, Loki would prefer not to have to keep checking behind his back wherever he went.
Self-consciously, Loki rubbed at his forehead. A strange mark not unlike a burn blemished his skin. The mark was roughly the size of a thumbprint. But no thumbprint had made it.
Loki traced his finger over the mark, shuddered, and then dropped his hand to the box of pastries he held.
Perhaps, if there were a new distraction in the tower to occupy the Avengers time and energy? Something they couldn’t ignore. Something big enough to cause such a discord they’d forget about Loki’s presence in the tower albeit temporarily.
But what could be big enough to get the Avengers off his back?
Sudden footsteps echoed through the silence, forcing Loki from his thoughts. He was about to throw up an illusion to hide himself when he saw who was entering the kitchen.
Loki smirked.
“Hello, Dr. Banner.”
