It wasn't unusual for the head of the mafia to wander away from the confines of the in-city suite to take a walk. It was becoming less-scarce an activity now that the snow was rolling in, but it seemed stupid to break tradition for something as trivial as a season. Despite it all, he had altered his attire somewhat, opting for a heavier white jacket -- because really, anything but white wouldn't do, and who cared if it matched the snow, honestly

Oh! A gentleman! How frabjous! Alice curtsied in return to his bow and stood up straight again. Basil popped from being a Dreamberry back into a stuffed rabbit and she caught him before he fell to the ground. Goodness, he was a wonderfully useful bunny! She had to find a way to thank him. But those were thoughts for later. She offered a smile to the gentleman.
"How do you do sir," she said as a proper lady should. "Oh, I was speaking to Basil," she gestured to the stuffed rabbit that had just moments ago been her Dreamberry.
He seemed.... familiar to her somehow. His voice reminded her of someone. She couldn't remember who though. And she supposed sometimes people just had similar voices... but why did his voice... it was like a distant dream just... younger. Oh well, she thought to herself, there was no point in pondering on that. She most certainly wouldn't be able to remember anytime soon. The more she tried to think about why his voice felt familiar the more the reason alluded her! And goodness she didn't want

The polite air around the girl reminded him of his own Alice, to some degree, but amplified. This girl was younger, much younger, and yet carried with her a confident and well-defined air. It was intriguing, and definitely something he'd have to look into later. For now, casual conversation and small-information gathering was the main idea and focus. At least, until he got bored.
"Basil," Blood repeated, eying the rabbit carefully. It reminded him half of Elliot, and half of Peter, which brought about a torrent of mixed emotions. Irritation and an almost softness. Regardless, his eyes betrayed nothing and he nodded. "A respectable comrade." If it actually spoke. Then again, he had seen stranger things here, so who was he to decide what was false and not?
When her question came, a soft chuckle tore from his throat. A smile stretched on his face seconds later. "Somarium, Young Miss. As to how you got here, I'm afraid I can't answer that." A pause.
Let the brain breakage commence!madcuriosityDecember 7 2009, 00:50:04 UTC
"Somarium," she repeated. "What a curious name," she mumbled. "I wonder if it stands for anything..." Still, there were more pressing matters at hand. Alice doubted the gentleman wanted to her the ramblings of a little girl. So she was in Somarium... but he didn't know how she got here... well she supposed she couldn't expect the gentleman to know how she arrived. Basil might know though since she was with her upon arriving. If only the little rabbit would speak. Perhaps he would speak to her in private. After all she hadn't had much time to converse with him privately. But those were all thoughts for later

If it did stand for anything, Blood hadn't been too interested in figuring it out. There seemed to be a rather large number of intellects here, and if they hadn't cracked the code yet, it wasn't worth puzzling over. In fact, there were far more imperative matters he allotted his time to. Like contemplating how to escape this world that seemed to have no exit.
"Blood Dupre," he said at last, offering his hand before her name registered in his mind. ...My, that was very curious indeed. "Forgive me," he said after a moment, realizing the look on his face may have been a cross between intimidating and skeptical for a second too long. "I have an acquaintance of that name."
She took his hand when he offered it and then tilted her head at the mention of someone else with her name. Well... she knew that Alice was a very lovely name. In fact, Alice was quite happy to be called Alice. It was a much lovelier name than Agnes. Agnes was an awful name in Alice's opinion. Or Mildred. Mildred was the one of the worst names of all. But Alice? Alice was a simply lovely name. However, when the man said his name was Blood.... she blinked and her eyes widened. Oh dear. Oh she had never met anyone named Blood before! She hoped he was a kind man...
"It's very nice to meet you Mr. Dupre," she said. Hmm... Dupre... she wondered if she knew a Dupre but she couldn't think of anyone with the last name Dupre.
