At the back of his throat, where his neck meets his shoulder, Edgeworth will feel a large, sturdy hand grip him firmly and hold him back from the woman. It is Inspector Javert, who leaped out of the crowd and straight to action before anyone else could properly respond, his face grim, solemn, and alert. He pulls the Chief Prosecutor away from the fallen girl and turns him to stare full in the face.]
I am very sorry for this, Monsieur. I do respect your authority as my superior, [murmurs Javert with a steely voice.] But you are leaving. Now.
NIGHTRAY! [he calls commandingly over the crowd.] Come here! You will take Monsieur away immediately! Send for the emergency physicians on your way!
[Javert, with a hand gripping Edgeworth like a vice, turns to survey the crowd and shout crisp, abrupt instructions over the din:]
The rest of you, stay back! Weasley, Brooks, Death the Kid, we need a perimeter. Vermillion, Potter, snatch your partners and search the grounds for evidence. Hurry up!

Draco, listen to me. Go home. Go back with your parents all right, don't worry you'll be fine with them. [ At least he can trust Lucius to protect his family. ]
Ron! Meet me outside when you're done!
[ And with that Harry's turned and heading back through the kitchen to the scene of the crime. ]

Thankfully, he was not far off when he heard the Inspector's booming voice over the panicking crowd. Within moments of hearing the command, Elliot was already there by Edgeworth's side with one hand grabbing the prosecutor's arm, and the other on his back, ready to push him all the way out the back door of the banquet hall if he had to. He threw the Inspector a quick glance and a nod, indicating that he was ready to take over.]
Sorry about this, Prosecutor Edgeworth. [It was a quick mutter, knowing full well that the man wasn't going to appreciate this at all.]

The loss of blood is already playing games with her mind and her failing vision, meaning Franziska can barely comprehend the frantic shouts and pounding footsteps around her, but the young woman finally focuses in on the concerned face of her brother.]
M-Miles... [Her voice is weak and all of her usual authority and command has disappeared. She's a helpless little girl again, completely terrified for herself as she feels the very life drain out of her. Without any warning or attempt to hold back her emotions, she begins to cry. Suddenly, being perfect and playing the part of a respected prosecutor has lost all meaning with death so close by.]
I'm scared, Miles.

He already had his hands on the other man's shoulders, ready to pull him back when he realized that the prosecutor was holding onto von Karma. If he tried to pull him away now, he could have ended up hurting the woman even further.]
Edgeworth, you have to get back!

[Hermione is the best at spells anyway, she was the one to put up the enchantments to keep them safe and hidden after all.
That said, he's off after Harry wand out to catch up with him. Guess it was too much to hope that parties here would always be blessedly normal now isn't it? But still, he's caught up now, ready to find what he needs to.]

[this was not what was supposed to happen at all, and he honestly couldn't believe that this happened. while everyone had been here enjoying the party, Franziska von Karma had been attacked and Kid could feel her life slipping away. he knew that only something of a miracle of someone with extreme healing powers would be able to save this young woman's life.
the irony that a death god was here and now someone was lying on the floor dying, her soul about to taken.
but there was no time for reflecting on cruel ironies. after hastily excusing himself from his friends and telling them to be careful (as well as keep an eye out for anything-if there was anyone he could trust with that, it would be them), he did as ordered. immediately he had tried to keep track of any souls that may have left the building, but it was too late to catch the killer, he knew that much. whether they fled or stayed, he wouldn't be able to tell. which was another reason why he was mentally kicking himself for letting his guard down.
so now all that was left was to do all that he could to secure the area and try to figure out what the hell happened.]

... Roger that.
[She picks up the skirt of her dress to make it easier for her to run, and proceeds to make her way to the kitchen door. As she passed by the place where Franziska lay, she called out to Elliot:]
Officer Nightray, when you've finished, meet me back in the kitchen to assist in the investigation! Tell Leo and Miss Vanessa to go home while you're at it!
[Right now isn't the time for familiarity; they were on duty right now, as cruel as circumstances are. With that, she heads through the kitchen doors.]

Good God! [he mutters like a curse under his breath, his brow furrowing deeply. He casts a grimace at Elliott's (admirable, but ill-guided) insistence.]
Nightray, there is little use. Wait a few minutes; take Monsieur out at the proper point. You will know when. The medical staff will come soon. And --[he raises his voice again, addressing the entirety of the police force as well as any civilians present,] no one is to leave until they make an official interview. There must be two men posted at every exit!

With her big brother watching over her protectively, Franziska von Karma heaves a heavy sigh and closes her eyes.
It isn't much longer after that sad moment when her labored breathing halts completely.]

[ There's a definite trail of blood leading from where Franziska had fallen, and Harry follows that. ]

Harry?
[He's all caught up now, serious look on his face.]
Can't believe this happened here...she's on the police and we're all here. [There's a shake of his head as he takes his eyes off the blood for a few minutes.] D'you think she'll be okay?
Reply
I can't really believe it either.

[He pushes his sleeves up and out of the way, looking around for anything that might be a clue but there are so many people here with different abilities that they might not have left evidence at all.]
Anything in particular we're looking for, apart from following all the blood.
