I meant to spend spring break cleaning. So far I've managed to catch up to the insanity that is our home. Taxes are happening today...I think we made a goof on Federal which holds back state but details.
The important thing is this -- in May we're getting a cat. It is a cat of circumstance so it's kind of an adoption, but also a giant leap of faith.
I have two cousins of consequence here in Colorado, one is a college student and the other is a single mom making do the best she can. It's the latter cousin whose cat had a litter of six on Sunday. Surprise! Kittens!
Except it's really not a surprise because this is momma Mocha's third litter. Or rather momma = Jocasta because the daddy (Oedipus but really named Nemo) of this litter also happens to be her offspring from the previous litter. Yep. We're getting a kitten from a Greek tragedy.
It's way in advance to post this but the prospect of a kitten has been on my mind all the time pretty much since Tuesday when Owencreature said we could take one in. As far as we know he's still allergic to fuzzy animals so we have between now and May to confirm or deny that fact. We'd talked about getting a pet -- a rabbit perhaps -- but not actually until I finish school next spring. And now there are the newborns.
So kitten. I've always had pets. Even youngish cats. But not something you have to box train. Do you box train cats? I don't even know. This is where the leap of faith comes in. Pretty much anything different and foreign I've undertaken since graduating from mDub I've approached with a certain amount of "what the hell." What the hell doesn't work with something that's depending on you.
And then there's Owencreature. After coming home from visiting with my family and being really morose because my cousin's solution was just to kill them, he did not even hesitate when he asked, "Do you want one?" And then saying okay, we'll make this work. He never ceases to amaze me.
In other news:
-We now have a digital camera! Yay birfday monies! Pictures of Colorado soonish?
-I may or may not have an independent brake job tomorrow.
-I wish they'd write tax materials in plain English.
-It snowed Tuesday and now it's ridiculously sunny. Silly weather
fuzz,
