Black Elizabethan Bodice...

... is a disaster right now. I had one little hole in the top that I stitched up before I wore it, then in the putting-on and wearing at Collegium in november, the effing thing basically fell apart. I had Noelle and Astrid sewing the holes shut while it was on me! I'm thinking it's time to make a new one, which sucks, since I only got to wear this one once.

All the blue circles are holes. I would like to note that the holes are not my fault. No, seriously. None of the holes are in the seams, they're in the FABRIC. The black silk that I bought from the ebay seller in Thailand was a shitty batch. Paper thin, shreds when sewn. I used it to line this bodice, thinking if it didn't show, who'd know? Stupid, right? Well, the effing fabric falls apart under pressure, i.e. wearing it.

I think for the second bodice I'm going to bone it instead of making it for a corset. I'll do 4 layers, I think: silk taffeta fashion fabric, cotton duck, cotton duck, silk lining. Or should I do one more layer?
