Purple Kirtle, all finished and on
Finally got to wear the damn thing on saturday at my Shire's event. I have got to say, I freakin' love this kirtle. So comfy compared to my gowns. Didn't overheat or get cold all day long. Nothing came apart all day long. In terms of construction and sewing, this is the best outfit I've made so far. It makes me hopeful for my skills to improve more in the future.
Post-sewing and wearing notes:
1. Use cartridge pleating more often. I've learned that I can in fact do it, and musn't be afraid of it!
2. Linen is the shit.
3. People seem to love guards. I got more compliments on the guards than anything else at the event.
4. Make more outfits like this one- it was a nice change to not be wearing court garb at a small daytime event.
