I was teaching freshmen how to do a keyboard repair on the XO. Now, when an XO has never been opened up before, things can stick a little. So instead of being able to, say, pull out pieces you sometimes have to force them a little.

So we had a Teacher Jam at Google Chicago, and it was awesome. First off, I really want to work somewhere like Google. Their office is amazing - it's super colorful, there are comfy things everywhere, there are bins of snacks and fridges full of smoothies, and there was even a [big] TV hooked up to YouTube in the lounge/kitchen area. Despite waking up in an absurdly foul mood, I am now happy.

Birthday was good. Pat got me a camera bag, dad got me a new lens [55-200, afjklsdfh *happy*], grandma gave me the usual money, etc. More notably, Mel took me electronics shopping at Fry's [and bought me strippers]. I also got an @laptop.org email address, so I guess now I'm a cool

I have spent far too much time in buses, trains, and cars lately. Yesterday it took me and Mel an hour or so to get to downtown [closer to midtown] Manhattan from uptown, mostly because the 6 train we were waiting for took forever to show up [and then 2 showed up in succession, so everyone waiting crammed onto the first and the one 2 minutes behind ( Read more... )

Whoah busy. Spent all last week working on the OLPC Grassroots bootcamp, which was cool but a bit stressful. It also involved not-lots-of-sleep [we went to Sunset Bar and Grill, which closes at 1:00am, at least 5 times, and the waitresses told us we were early when we got there at midnight], but all in all it went well.
