(Someone needs to take my Sailor Moon Figuarts away from me, lol.)
Whoa, hey guys! It's 2015! Isn't that a trip? Back in 1989 when I saw the first 2 Back to the Future movies in the theater with my parents, the year 2015 seemed so far away and magical. Even again when watching the original Evangelion TV series in 1995, 2015 seemed so out of reach...like we'd never get there. Now it's here, and it seems kind of surreal to me. We finally caught up! It's the "future"! Pretty weird.
I know I said I'd post about Christmas, but I had a few photos I wanted to add to the post and I got a little distracted with other things...so hopefully later this week I can do a little post about Christmas. (Sorry). Until then, I figured a new years post would be good (while it's still New Years Day here.)
1. What did you do in 2014 that you'd never done before?
I visited Boston, I saw JAM Project, I met a few internet friends in person that I'd never met, I stayed in a hotel alone, I got to see one of the members of X-Japan perform live right in front of me, I got over 3000 followers on my podcast's tumblr, I recorded 2 audio books (and edited one of them all by myself), I helped on a Kickstarter, I got a production credit on the Bubblegum Crisis blu-rays (
which means I now have an IMDB page--another first!), and several artists that work on things I love started following me both on Tumlr and Instagram. All of these things still kind of make me feel giddy & I can't believe they really happened!
2. Did you keep your New Year's resolutions for 2014? Will you make more for 2015?
I don't really make resolutions, but goals. One of my goals was to work more on voice over stuff, and I did get some really solid audio book stuff, so that was pretty awesome! As for 2015, my main goals are to try to work harder and be more focused, while keeping in touch better with the people I care about and not giving the people I DON'T care about as much attention.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
I don't think so.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No, though a few of my friends lost family and that made me sad for them.
5. What countries did you visit?
I left Texas once, which feels like another country, lol.
6. What would you like to have in 2015 that you lacked in 2014?
More money?? XD
7. What date from 2014 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Anime Boston week, because MAN was that a week!!
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Keeping up with my podcast, the audio books, the Kickstarter work, and getting my own IMDB page, all while still managing to pay my bills each month somehow.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Not making as many handmade things for my Etsy shop this year. I want to get back into doing that this year.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nothing too serious. I think I actually only got really sick once or twice this year!
11. What was the best thing you bought?
I somehow managed to find one of the really super out of print volumes of Black Jack for the cover price. I was super proud of that. XD
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Mara for thinking I was worth flying to Boston to meet and hang out with her and her friends (she and them being way WAY cooler than I'll ever be, lol.) Sarah and Ali for also being so much cooler than me and still wanting to see me and spend time with me and just being way awesome. Heather for being a super sweet friend. Zack for putting up with me even when I'm horrible. Mom for just being mom. All my friends for being so kind and supportive to me.
13. Whose behavior made you mad and ill-willed?
Sadly, I had to finally cut ties with a few people from high school on Facebook. I just couldn't stand their behavior any longer, it was ridiculous and I have no time for that junk anymore. I wouldn't say I feel ill-will towards them, more like I was disappointed with their behavior and just decided that it was for the best that we part ways for now.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Bills, birthday and xmas gifts. Also towards buying things to go in the Etsy shop, lol.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Visiting Boston for the first time, seeing people I've always wanted to meet in person, hanging out with friends at A-kon, weekly Skype club with Twitter friends, recording fun podcast episodes.
16. What song will always remind you of 2014?
Heehee >D 17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
1. Happier or sadder? Slightly happier? :O
2. Thinner or fatter? A tiny bit thinner!
3. Richer or poorer? About the same, if not maybe slightly poorer since Zack didn't get the financial aid he usually does.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Like I said before, work on more handmade things for Etsy, etc.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Procrastinating, being lazy.
20. How did you spend Christmas?
With Zack and his family, like usual.
21. How will you be spending New Year's Eve?
With Zack & chatting on Skype with Des, slightly buzzed and just talking and watching movies.
22. Did you fall in love in 2013?
Not with anyone new.
23. How many one-night stands?
We have 2 nightstands! *rimshot*
24. What was your favorite TV program?
I got into Hannibal, which is a great series. There was actually some great new anime in 2014, amazingly! Like Monthly Girl's Nozaki-kun!
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Not to fond of anyone who associates with that ridiculous "GamerGate" movement. :P
26. What was the best book you read?
I didn't read much this year again, sadly. I enjoyed reading more Clive Barker short stories I hadn't read, also Satoshi Kon's manga "Opus", which I just finished, but I STARTED it in 2014....XD I'm in the middle of "The Graveyard Book" right now, it's ok so far.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
FEMM I guess?
28. What did you want and got?
I wanted to get more older anime and manga, and wih the help of trading in lots of old junk and having an Amazon associate account for my podcast, I did get some!
29. What did you want and not get?
More money would've been nicer? XD
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Ugh, that's hard....Eva 3.3 I liked, despite the fact that most people didn't seem to like it? Also liked The LEGO movie, Guardians of the Galaxy, Coherence, The Babadook....I didn't get to see many "new" movies this year, sadly, but those are some good ones!
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Zack took me to the new Japanese place and we had good sushi! He also gave me Ranma 1/2 on blu-ray, the sweetie. I turned...32. XD
32. What's one thing would have made 2014 immeasurably more satisfying?
Again, more moneys ;P
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2014?
Whatever's clean and doesn't make me look like a couch ;P
34. What kept you sane?
Friends, working on things, various media.
35. Which celebrity did you fancy the most?
Eh, other than kinda swooning over getting to see JAM Project and a member of X-Japan, nothing new.

Wendy Davis not winning -__-

Family & friends far away.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
Meeting LJ and Twitter friends in person for the first time was pretty awesome!!
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2014.
Never assume a job is going to be as easy as you think it'll be.
40. Quote or Song Lyric that sums up your year:
But I really, really want to thank you
For dancing 'til the end
You found a way to break out
You're not afraid to break out
~
"Dance Apocolyptic" by Janelle Monae I hope 2015 will be a good year for us all, friends. ^__^
