The three-month heat wave that began in late June which sparked dozens and dozens of above-90-degree days and forced Nicole and me to buy an air conditioner is finally over. For this area to not get any rain for months at a time is bizarre. The heat was too much and really made it impossible to do a lot of things. It's wild to see the weather reports now claim that we'll be in the 60s and 70s for the foreseeable future. Whew! Maybe the rain will return too!
With Nicole and me having birthdays so close together, it's usually an excuse to go out and have some fun at some kind of joint event. Normally, my birthday is a quiet affair as I'm not really into the things people do on their birthdays which typically involves alcohol and dancing with strangers. Not my thing. This year, for our birthdays, Nicole and I were taken to a local theme park. There was some deal happening and we got unlimited attraction passes on the cheap. It was actually a blast. Go-karts, laser tag, and of course mini-golf. We even did this horrible simulator ride that spins you around in a small shell. It made us nauseous for hours. The highlight was laser tag, where we obliterated a group of cocky young kids. We'd never been to this laser tag arena before and once that became known during the orientation video, the kids were immediately confident that they'd win on experience alone. Yea. No. The adults led most of the match. Thankfully, the kids were ultimately good sports about it.
Even though it's not something most people would do for their birthdays, it was actually a lot of fun and it hit the spot. Who doesn't love mini-golf? Afterward we had an amazing dinner out in the waining summer heat. Ahhhhhhh... Batteries recharged.
Nicole is truly diving head first into her aspirations to become an eBay entrepreneur. Nearly every day now, she's out thrifting or listening to advice podcasts or researching or listing her finds. It's taken over our tiny apartment and it consumes nearly all of her time. She's learned how to do things very quickly and has pretty much taken over. Currently, she has over 110 items listed, which is an incredible feat. It's epic and mind-blowing to see that much product. She's also making some good money too. Last week, she made at least $300 worth of profit, which is somewhere around equal to a full time minimum wage job. If she can do that every week, she won't need a job. And the way she's still ramping up, it could happen. Her goal is to have one to two thousand items listed all the time. We're gonna need a bigger apartment....
Finally, since it is my birthday, I indulged a little and bought a Playstation 4 for Nicole and me to enjoy. It arrived the other day and I've already been playing some Minecraft. Some games are in the mail and so far I think it'll be a fun investment. I'm jumping into the current console generation a bit early this time around, but there are some games I really want to see. Plus Minecraft. Did I mention Minecraft?
