Sassy Birthday / They Hired That??

Happy Birthday, sassylilscorpio!!
I know you'll be busting your ass all day and may not get a chance to read this until the weekend, but I'm thinking good positive thoughts for ya! Sending positive waves your way. Hope you have a good day and that you continue moving on up in the world!

Now... Speaking of moving on up in the world, I'm rather shocked at this point in time, folks. Let me explain: It's been almost a month since the rather stinging employment rejection from a community college on the Oregon coast. Normally I wouldn't dwell on it but it was one of the few "creative interviews" I've ever been on where they ask me to generate art for them as a gauge of my talent. A few hours ago, I got to thinking about that faux-ad they made me produce at the interview back in early October and I began daydreaming about what I'd do if they actually dared use it for real in a local newspaper. Oohh, the hammer would come down if I catch any business doing that without hiring me. A smile came over my face as I imagined the phone call they'd receive after I discovered my ad. You wouldn't want to be on the other end; I don't normally make righteous legal threats but I felt one bubbling within me.

The extension of this daydream was to actually hunt down my ad on the web. As I began doing that I quickly realized I could use this opportunity to hunt down art made for the college by the person they actually hired instead of me for the graphic artist job. A month had gone by; the guy must be churning out crap by now. My rationale was that if I found something, I could see what they really wanted as opposed to what I gave them. Sure enough, I think I found something made by the newly hired artist:

Yea. This post's userpic says it all. If that's truly by the guy they hired instead of me, I weep for them. Ohh, sure, I'm laughing too--laughing good and hard--but I think if this is really what they wanted as opposed to what I gave them, then they actually want to live in the distant past. You'd think a college would want to be on the cutting edge. This is further confirmation that my talents would have been sorely wasted and slowly put to death there. I'll keep an eye open for more garbage from the coast and I could be entirely wrong about this being the real deal so I'm keeping an open mind--while still laughing hysterically.

There's a TV station in Eugene hiring a lackey part-time. I know I said I wasn't looking really hard outside of Portland because I'm far too poor to move for part-time work but... I'm nearly exhausted. I need to look harder.

unemployment, friends, birthday
