this poll where I was wondering about what the hell to call a dainty medieval princess's lady parts?
I think I've just written myself into a corner because now there's a sex scene in which dirty talk is a really, really important aspect (hell, the entire hotness of it depends on dirty talk) and she has to call it something, because it's one of those scenes where one person is teasing another and goes "ask me what to do to you; plead for it". And I sure as hell can't use the too-hard "cunt" or the too-modern "pussy" or actual medieval terms because they'd be too corny. I'm thinking of defaulting to "cunny" but I really can't tell if that's a bit off (did those of you who read Of Roses Unfurling find it off?), and if even the harder "cunt" would actually be sharper and better. And since it is one of those scenes where it all hinges on that particular word, it would have to be something that has resonance for the reader and doesn't actually sound corny, you know? And she's being made to talk *dirty*, and in this story, she's actually had contact with scullery maids, so she would be familiar with the c-word at least. But I still don't know if it'd be too hard and kind of mood-ruining. Aaaaaaaaaaah! None of this would be a problem if "pussy" just didn't sound so, so wrong and corny in a medieval context. I am this close to swearing off writing historical porn ever again! What the *hell* should I use?
Are there, like, proper sexual thesauruses online somewhere?
