Writing Updates: fate of the parasite queen - Devil Inside

Around noon yesterday the vet called and said Copper was coming out of the anesthesia. He did really well in surgery. They removed the tumor! At 3:50 we went to pick him up (they wanted to watch him for four hours). And he pranced out of the back down the hall when he saw me and D. Then he tried to bolt for the door when he saw it. Then he practically skipped across the parking lot and we brought him home, where he drank lots of water and wanted lots of food. You’re supposed to limit them because the anesthesia can cause vomiting. But Copper was just fine. So we left his water dish down for him and then fed him an hour afterwards. I think he’s in a little pain as he’s more restless and whiny than normal - but that’s to be expected as the tumor was in his mouth and he just got out of surgery. He wanted very badly to go on a walk this morning, so his behavior overall is very much the same as it has always been. It’s relieving! He’s asleep right now since we have to give him pain killers and antibiotics twice a day. So he’s clonked out from that.

Finished generation 4 on Record of Agarest war! I’m now playing as Rex, going to get Silvi back as soon as I can. Switch her in for Thoma. Silvi is great, she’s sweet and loving. Rex is also great, he’s very much like his forefathers (but definitely not as brooding as some of them). He’s got wings like his mother, but looks quite a bit more like Leonhardt than his father, Duran. In case that’s confusing, Leonhardt is Rex’s great-great grandfather. (Hmm that sounds wrong. Leo, Ladius, Thoma, Duran, Rex, so that’s two greats…okay there we go). Of the five, the only ones I’m not too fond of are Ladius and Duran.

I’m also weirded out by the fact that Alberti’s granddaughter joined us and helps out her granddad. It’s just because Alberti doesn’t look very old at all. Certainly not old enough to have a granddaughter at least. I can definitely see him having children, but adult grandchildren make my mind reel. He really ages well for a human! He’s been with us since generation 3 (assuming he was at least 16 on the low scale, plus 19 for generation 4, then 22 for generation 5. That could make him roughly 57ish. I allotted a year for each child to be born, but still he doesn’t look it!) so he should be pretty old by now, and he’s alive of his own doing (meaning he’s not cursed or blessed or anything). I suppose that’s not too unnatural, almost 60, takes good care of himself, he could definitely make it work. He could be older if he were say older than my initial estimate. Which could be true enough, I’d assume 18 or 19 too. Which would make him 2-3 years older.

In fact, I think Alberti and Beatrice are the only humans in the party (save for the at least one of the brides in every generation and Win). Everyone else has naturally long lifespan, excluding Win because he’s an idiot (no, really, he put on a cursed bracelet and is now immortal as he waits for the dark god to claim his soul. They’re trying to remove it but it’s not going well, they’d have to remove Win’s arm or kill the dark god. And Win is adamant about keeping his arm. So we tried to make another Hammer but someone ran off with one of the ingredients we needed. He’s human but cursed.).

I really need to go through skills and weapons again though. Shops are too far and in between in this generation though, so it’s kind of a pain in the butt. I suppose I could go back to one of the other continents for a shop though. Hrm.
