True to the season, Sadcat has gone and developed an ulcer in his right eye to match the scar tissue in his left.  I think we might have caught it early enough that an aggressive treatment of antivirals will clear it up.  The eye is already looking loads better, but it's the Cone of Shame until the vets can re-check him Thursday morning.  At least ( Read more... )

...on Rick's eye.  Because he and his brother turn three tomorrow, and I am officially signing off on this chapter of his woes.

The vets proclaim the ulcer healed!  I must take their word for it, because Rick's third eyelid slammed over it as soon as the sedation wore off.  I'm told there has been some scarring, that it will take a while for the blood vessels to recede from the area (read: the Demonic Redeye persists) but that all should be well when the swelling goes down ( Read more... )

• Rick's eye-sutures were scheduled to come out today
• Exterior stitches went fine
• Interior stitches have been swallowed up by the conjunctival tissue
• Rescheduling to take him in for sedation and surgical removal tomorrow morning, as he had not been fasting and could not be anesthetized

Good news from the vet!  Rick's eye does seem to be showing some improvement!  The general shape of the ulcer has begun to thin out and recede from the bottom-up, and more and more blood vessels are growing into the cornea.  It looks horrifying and demonic, but the cloudy redness in the eye is a good sign of healing.  They think there's bound to be ( Read more... )

First thing's first: another seizure hit 2:30 Monday morning.  I am disturbed by how REGULAR they are, happening every two weeks on a Sunday/Monday.  I'm told that seizure-patterns are not uncommon, but it still seems...strange.  I feel like they happen at the end of fabulous weekends, thereby overriding all the wonderful things that go on.   ( Read more... )
