Today I got my new student card in the mail. Now, first things first, the idea is great. Sure, I don't get to keep building up stickers on my old one, and sure, I have to fuck around with two cards until I use all my photocopier credits, but not having to use my card like, 100 times to open a door in the 24 hours before a major assignment is due will be great.
I'm not too happy about the appearance of it though. For a start, the new photo is of the tower atop Winthrop Hall. Fine, ok, looks lame, isnt useful (seriously, an aerial photo on your card is handy sometimes), but worst of all, I swear its been photoshopped. Something just isn't quite ... right. Its definately been bleached out, no limestone is that white unless laid within the last month. And the eastern face of the tower I swear looks like its been hit with the almighty clone-stamp. But what gets me the most is how little I look like the photo on the back now. Whilst the brightness has been given a kick in the anus on the front of the card, its been kicked in the nuts on that back. Snave is black in his photo. Would've been nice if they checked the photos before putting them on, or hell, given us the chance to get new ones before the card issue, but hey, they're lazy, so I can sympathise.
