Absolutely thrilled with how the pleated silk turned out on the straw hat. Lined the top of it, too, as the original either never had lining, or it fell out. Looks pretty snazzy ( Read more... )

Just did an hour and a half of hand stitching on a buckram frame. Arrg. My fingers are going to fall off.

So, buckram hats are a pain, but I love them anyway. First you have to mold the buckram, then sew the wire down, then hand stitch the fleece down, then hand stitch your fashion fabric on the top and bottom edge, then the head band, and then the fashion band, and /then/ you can start decorating it.
