Double Drabble: Ain't Nobody Gonna Take My Mint Chocolate Cookie Away from Me

“I should’ve known it would end badly during that first date.  She said ‘I know this great ice cream place!’ and I said ‘Neat!’ and it was over.  Finished.  Finito.  ‘Cause you know what?  It was soft serve, Danny, SOFT SERVE.  Soft serve is not ice cream!  It’s pointy, sculptured, and icy, icy cold!  Those cones were big flashy metaphors and I missed them Danny!  And you know what?  We never had real ice cream after that.  No Edy’s, no Breyer’s, no Ben and Jerry’s.  Not once, not even one time.”

Danny has perfected his silent acquiescence to this rant.  He sails by “Neat!” without a smirk.  He triumphs over “Finito” and his compulsive need to denigrate Casey’s Spanish.  He doesn’t opine that all ice cream is icy, icy cold-it’s in the name of the product.  But most importantly, he never points out that even with the cornucopia of ice cream available the city over, Casey picks vanilla every single time.  Because over the years Danny had learned something else, too.  Casey, he’s discovered, is a connoisseur of Vanilla.  He’s even lured Danny away from Rocky Road, though Danny will never admit it.  Not once.  Not even one time.

Author's Note: I also really like Cinnamon Buns and Vermonty Python, but Mint Chocolate Cookie is my first love.  Thank you.
