i did the women's 10k in central park today, a race i used to run 20 something years ago. finished in 53:35, which i'm pleased with. it was hot, and a late (9am) start, and a mob scene for the first mile. and i didn't taper. and it was really hot and humid, in case i didn't mention that.

there's life in the old girl yet.

well, i finally signed up for a race - flat as a pancake, a sprint tri on staten island at the end of july. the field in my age group looks pretty packed, so i'm not holding out hope for hardware, but i sort of feel ready to race, and i have plenty of time to get ready. i've never raced a sprint - should be interesting. and quick!

it wasn't a good time to race. i'm in the middle of moving and stressed beyond my limit. but i told jc i'd do it.

tiny little duathlon - 2 mile run/10 mile bike/2 mile run. i did what i could - got second in my age group. so la di dah.

still here, still training. but. i have to move and that's taken over about 99% of my brain and it's making it very hard for me to think or plan or focus on training or anything. people keep telling me it's going to be fine, but i'm really not buying that. i'm going to end up living in a box on the street ( Read more... )

i came in 5th in my age group - last year that time would have gotten me third! the winning times in that AG were really blazing - all sub 1.20. oh well. but still, i'm very happy, it's a 5 or 6 minute improvement over last year (i missed the start (they moved it and told me the wrong place), so i don't know my real time).it's the recovery that ( Read more... )

last saturday's cycling class was brutal and i ended up with a cramped up calf. got a massage but it's still sore and tight. and of course i'm racing on sat. and of course i got new shoes. and of course i have cycling again tonight. i think i'll go - hair of the dog, right? it's an interval class, so not so much speed. but i'm a bit concerned. i ( Read more... )
