RaTs Shifts Subindex
So, now that Casey and I are both writing Shifts pieces for runaway_tales, I have decided, in the interest of making everything easier on all of us, to put everything we've both written for the Shiftsverse in one entry that we can both link to in our own indexes and when we post pieces at the comm.
Basic premise: Magical gifts are the result of a genetic mutation, magic users have formed a community that non-users generally don't know about, said community is heavily based in the corporate world, and alternate realities are bad, very bad.
Tremors summary: Oriana Kopen enjoyed a life happily removed from the business world she had been brought up in. Then she attended a corporate party with her family and learned that the mysterious death of her cousin seven years before might not actually have been a death at all, but a cover-up. For what, she didn't know, and her attempts to find out thrust her deeper into the world of magic use than she ever wanted to go. (Takes place fall 2002)
Shifts summary: Lynne Williams and Drew Henson thought they were normal teenagers...well, as normal as a snarky girl and a sulky boy can get when they share an apartment building with some odd neighbors: a scientist couple's uptight son, a gregarious boy with decidedly random tendencies, and a pair of abnormally astute toddler twins. Right before midyear finals, they begin to notice random changes in their surroundings that suddenly undo themselves without warning. And then everything goes to hell. (Takes place late January/early February 2008)
Post-Shifts: Everyone adjusts to life without parallel dimensions (and without powers, for some). Old love is maintained, new love develops. Isabelle tries to make the magic community better. Mariah attempts to be normal. Eleazar and Oriana carve out new paths for themselves. Rand, Lynne, and Drew balance their two families and start new ones. Grayson gets roped into a legitimate career. Abraham becomes the man he should have been all along. Rupert stays the same, to the surprise of no one.
Family Trees: Family Echo (which has all the biological relationships and some notes on the adoptions in bios), and this one by Casey (which includes the adoptive relationships/user types, but is not up to date).
