When she wants something, Mommy and Daddy are supposed to come and get it for her. This time, they don’t.
She frowns, stretching toward the wooden horse that sits high above her reach, but quickly begins to laugh in delight as it drifts off the shelf and floats gently into her waiting hands. Then she sees a stuffed animal she likes, and makes that come to her, too.
The next morning, her mother finds her buried under a pile of toys she could have sworn she had put away the night before, fast asleep.
