Day 3 of the Gigi and Crystal Get Fit Plan

May 01, 2009 23:17

Neither Gigi nor I were excited about working out today.  Work was hectic and promises that the month of May is going to be one huge push.  But, some of us went to have pedicures after work.  Which I really needed, a little nosh with a few of the ladies and got home about 7:30 p.m.
Really didn't want to ride, but I promised ya'll I'd try.

So I tacked up and she was being cooperative, but once I got to the mounting block she was a snot. She kept moving off or stopping short.  Wasted 5-10 minutes on working through that.  Getting her to stand in place and not move when I went along side her.  Can you say passive resistence?

Once I did get on, we did a once around and then got to work with the STB work.  At the walk we did a lot better, but can any creature walk slower? Kathleen thinks that Gigi might be sore (I know I am), but recommended that we continue, but more gently.  I did ask her to trot a few times, but without constant urging she would slow back down to a walk.

So it was a shorter workout than intended.  We're supposed to be up to 40 minutes, but I would be surprised if we managed 20.  Like I said, this active riding is hard work and I was out of breath trying to actively keep her moving.  I can feel every muscle in my legs, back, and shoulders.

We called it a day early. I gave her a good brushing, put her fly sheet back on, and finally let her get to her dinner.  I collapsed.

So tomorrow, I'm going to visit a friend who broke her leg when her horse slipped on a trail, maybe go to a horse show, and then in the afternoon visit J and A for a conference call about the updated equestrian rules for the SCA.  sunday is house cleaning and expecting the guys back home from scouts.  Hm... maybe I'll go see a movie Sunday early afternoon.  Something girly.
