He was Ganondorf Dragmire. Leader of the Gerudos. A powerful king in his own right. His years at Smash Academy had helped him to unwind and be relatively normal, until he had finally clashed with his own mothers and taken over. Then he'd suddenly been slowly changing, which led to the man that he was now ( ... )

It wasn't the most graceful way to start a conversation. There were only ten thousand other things he could have said that would have been worse, though. In comparison to the Ganondorf she'd known when she first arrived at the academy, he'd changed. She hadn't, but he had. In fact, she seemed more like a rock in a rapid river, never changing, and just accepting every hit, but never wearing down.

Except rocks over time did wear down.

He opened his door and she leaned against the frame, swallowed whatever it was that attempted to make her nervous, and she gave him a confident smile. Artificial confidence, but confidence all the same, and it wasn't like he'd know any better.

"Hello to you, too," she replied with an upturn of the lips.

Ganondorf's own heart was too busy thumping out of his chest for him to notice how nervous Nabooru was. All he saw was her confident smile, which somehow gave him more confidence. He quietly ushered her inside, before closing the door with a swift movement.

"I'm glad you decided to come," he began, coughing. "Would you...like to take a seat?" No sooner had those words escaped his lips that he was already opening and searching his drinking cabinet. He held up a crystal glass willed with coconut vodka and pineapple juice and offered it to her. Ganondorf had gone as far as to put a cherry inside and a small umbrella. Very kitschy.

"How about a drink?"

She'd seen his room a few times before, had never really thought much of it because back in the desert they'd been in close proximity before. It was amazing how when they were taken away from their obligations that all the possibilities came about. Which pathway were they going to take, though? Which one and why?

"Well, you said I should. I'll do whatever you think is best, my king," she replied calmly. Then she inched around, idly looking around with a smile.

"A drink would be great." It'd at least calm her down and she really needed that. She didn't even know what it was that he had to say to her. She hoped it wasn't so bad. Or bad at all.

Whatever he thought was best. Right. There went his doubts about this again. It felt so ironic, really, a man who wanted people obeying his every word, secretly hoping that this one little thing wasn't motivated by duty. He wanted feelings! Real ones...

He gave her the drink with a smile. Had to keep that facade about him, of course.

"I see," he began simply as he sat down on the lipless (thank the goddesses) couch and invited her to sit next to him. "Tell me what you think. I got the recipe from a book."

Idle conversation was the best way to start it. Maybe his heart would stop thumping so much.
