vacation planning
This year every time we've started to make plans for a vacation, we've gotten derailed.
Thanks to my husband's company changing their policy to a "you can't take a week off until you've earned the week off" policy, we couldn't take a week vacation until 6 months into the year. So -- we usually like traveling to somewhere tropical -- but thanks to his company's policy, traveling in the spring was not an option. It's too hot to want to travel any farther south in the summer, and hurricane season will be in full swing by the time the temperature cools down. Neither of us want to wait until late fall to finally have our vacation.
Yesterday we had a brief moment of brilliance. Instead of making ourselves miserable by going further south and east (our trips typically are to South Florida, the Caribbean, or Mexico) -- we decided to go in the opposite direction. We're going to plan a vacation to the Pacific Northwest -- most likely Seattle and Portland.
We've still got to work out the details -- but I'm happy just knowing that we've finally settled on where to go.
