To quote a beloved Matthew Good Band song, "The strange days have come."
After last weekend when morons headed for the hills (literally) thinking some "fresh air away from others" was a good idea, surprise surprise, the "others" followed them and groups of people were conglomerating in areas. So the government had to lay down the law and ban gatherings (police are fining people who go against this) and urged everyone to stay home unless they need to buy food, go out for medical needs or care for a vulnerable person.
You are not allowed to visit family or friends. You are allowed 30 minutes of outdoor daily exercise. Pete and I go for a walk around our neighbourhood to get the legs working, but for the most part we are holed up inside. Pete has taken up the task of getting our garden ready for a massive overhaul (it needs it). He's pulled up four roots from some shrubs we hacked down. They were monster roots, too!
I have been working from home having (finally) been given remote access. I'm glad I can continue keeping busy and so very grateful I am not in dire financial straits. I wouldn't be able to apply for government benefits anyway, given my immigration status.
Our days have mostly been spent lazily, though, with group chats and gaming where we can. I'm not going stir crazy just yet, mostly because I know all of this is necessary and will help others. My anxiety levels haven't exactly been "low", but that's to be expected given all that's going on.
This new NIN song is my "pandemic jam" - doesn't help it's called The Worriment Waltz!
Stay safe out there.
