Easter + random thoughts

We have made it to Easter weekend--well, it all started early for me as I took today off to give myself a five day rest. I don't feel like I need it, but I know I can't keep trucking along without giving myself a "work break".

I was thinking the other day how I have been able to deal with social distancing and I concluded that I am just--used to it? Most people I want to see don't live here and I'm used to keeping in touch with them in other ways. That sounds hella depressing, but it's true. So, it wasn't a difficult adjustment because I've been doing it anyway.

I know for a fact that gaming is keeping me sane. At last, I can play games indoors on a 20+ degree day (the weather is weird..) and not feel guilty about it! It's also a good way to keep in touch with the overseas folks. I'm sure there will be phone chats and video calls over the weekend, too. The only thing missing right now is Easter chocolate as bags of Mini Eggs have all but disappeared! I'll just eat a Kit Kat and count that as my Easter treat :P

We went grocery shopping yesterday and were met with a line outside the door. After waiting it out, we noticed signage that said "one adult per household" so I was sent packing. I felt bad leaving as shopping for food right now is not the most fun of chores, just adds to the anxiety, but he managed it well enough--just did the thing and got the heck out of there as quickly as possible (well, he ended up in a check out lane with a chatty Kathy for a cashier. NOT the time for that!).

I really hope people heed the adivce and stay home this long weekend. I know it'll be tough given how glorious the weather is meant to be, but I have a feeling if people don't listen then we will lose our "30 minutes of outside exercise" privilege. Not everyone has a backyard to fall back on. I feel grateful that I do..

Oh, and I miss sports. We're so desperate to watch anything that we currently have a replay of a British Elite Hockey League game. It's background noise!
