Wild times

I remember waaaaay back to..uh, three weeks ago when the most talked about thing was the flooding in and around Gloucester. Now coronavirus is the talk of, well, the globe. Didn't think I'd even be mentioning a global pandemic in this here LJ, but here we are. Times are nutty.

We are planning to travel in May and attend an event in which 10,000 people are expected to come from all over the world. Oh dear! The organizers are basically hoping things will calm down before then, but as of now there are no public gatherings of over 30 people allowed in the Czech Republic and a ban of peopel traveling from certain countries has now been put into force. We have already looked into what can be done should we have to cancel the trip altogether, which would be a shame, but these are extraordinary circumstances so it's difficult getting too bummed out about it!

There are very few confirmed cases in the county I live in and a big horse race held the next town over went ahead, so uhh, yeah, hopefully that was a wise decision. At any rate, Pete and I have resigned ourselves to the mantra of, "If we get sick, we get sick". Of course, we will follow advice and all that jazz--should it come to it!

At any rate, I'm going to be following this advice:
