Yesterday, I saw
The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, it just came out over here.
I liked it, although there seemed to be some liberty taken when it came to canon. But Susan/Caspian was sweeet, so no hard feelings.
Just a few thoughts; Telmarines are afraid to pursue Caspian into the forest. Fine. But did the production team have to rip of the scene from Prince of Thieves, where soldiers are, also, afraid to go after Robin Hood when he flees into the woods? Seriously, the only thing missing was Michael Wincott...
And short after that; Caspian crosses a river, ebil!soldiers get mysteriously hindered and cannot chase after him. Me: Run, Frodo! Run! ...I mean, Caspian! Run! <<
Yeah., But other than that, I thought the movie was nice. It was also a nice touch to throw in female Centaurs and Dwarves, since that's something I've rarely seen in this type of movie. It's always "Oooh, the [insert creature here] sent so and so many to battle, lalala!", but here, it went to show that the Centaurs etc. are more of a people; with women, children and all that. Not just soldiers. I remember the Pratchett-stealth in LOTR, when Gimli claims that Dwarf-women looks just like Dwarf-men, but it's nice to see that this is not so in every fantasy canon. I was beginning to believe that there were no female dwarf actors in Hollywood. Speaking of which, I really liked
Peter Dinklage as Trumpkin. I'm sad to say that I've never really seen many movies in which short people get to do real characters; often it's more along the lines of "Dwarf #7" or similar. I now remember that I saw him in Living in Oblivion, where he's also very good. Good going, Narnia!
The weather is lovely. Don't wanna go to work. Not even for a few hours. *cries*
