The Eleventh Doctor

So, Doctor Who grand finale.

Well... it was grand, and big, and crowded. Very much so. Still wish they would've added John Heart to the mix, just for flavour, but you can't get it all, I suppouse... A few thoughts on what we did get:

The kinda-regeneration was a bit odd, but still half expected; I remember reading somewhere that Tennant was meant to be in season five, so killing him off would've been weird. But does this mean that he's now officially the eleventh Doctor, or what? Or should we consider Human!Doctor number eleven?

Doctor!Donna, now that was great. Odd, very ood indeed, but still; Donna was always the Supertemp. I'll miss her. Donna losing all memories of her journey was a bit too sad, I felt. I cried far too much, as usual. (Yes, I cry to Doctor Who. It's a completely normal reaction. Shush now.)

Insane supreme Dalek sees the error of Dalek ways and leads his people to certain doom. Interesting, although I never thought even a barking mad Dalek would consider their ways wrong. Oh, well. Poor Daleks, except not really. You just fail and fail, don't you?

Now, Rose and the human Doctor... It was a bit too sweet, perhaps, but I'm still buying it. Why? Because, no matter how much I like Rose, I think we've had enough of the old companions running around all over the place. Rose gets closing, a chance to live with the love of her life, which she would never have been able to have with the "original" Doctor, and the series can finally move on. The Doctor will find a new companion, and old wounds will heal, as to speak.

I don't mean that I would object to seeing more old companions in the future, like Sarah Jane or Martha, but my companion-glass is just about filled to the brim for now, I'm pleased and ready to move on with new companions, new adventures.

Nice to see Jackie again, and I bet I'm not the only one who's betting on Mickey being recruited to Torchwood. Maybe Jack will manage to recruit Martha as well, but he's tried and failed before. Not that Jack would ever give up because of a failure, mind you...

And finally, finally, we got a little treat with the mentioning of the Gwyneth/Gwen relationship; short as it was. Nice closure for The Doctor and Rose, I thought. ^_^

But hey, would this actually mean no more Daleks, like ever? I'm suspecting not, since Daleks always seem to survive somehow, but that seemed very final. Of course, it would have had to be the Doctor as a human to finally kill them off. How filled of anger and passion our species be. Naturally, cybermen will come along this Xmas, ensuring we won't cry for too long over the Daleks. But there was those "special" Daleks in New York, the black one that just teleported away for instance, so I'm thinking there may be more Daleks yet.

Final thought: someone mentioned that the Space Pigs (Doctor Who season two) would get an explanation in Torchwood season two? Did they? Or did I miss it? I'm confused.

Final thought #2: German Lady watching the castle, are we suppoused to remember her from somewhere? I kinda got that feeling, although I can't make a connection. First, I thought of the NY-actress, but hey, wrong accent. She said she'd been to London. Someone from The Empty Child? Or just me reading too much into her?

On a sidenote, Torchwood season two finally airs in Sweden. Yay!
