Big Brother auditions blog part 2

Jan 12, 2007 01:02

Good to see you back folks, so let's continue the story of my adventures from Sunday morning.

Oh, there will be a part 3

---

The place where the queue started, it was a hell of a lot better than waiting out in the wind and rain.

So I'm standing in what looks to be some form of storage area/warehouse, (though I'm probably wrong but that's what it looked like) and I look around at the queue in front of me.

One thing that did strike me was the amount of people there, I've heard from previous years that there were thousands turning up, but you were lucky if there was anything from about 100-105 upwards. I'm chalking that up to the fact that there were also auditions the day before. The people at the front were all sitting/lying down, so I'm assuming they had been there for a while.

Anyway I scan the crowd to see what kind of people were there, at that time (around 8.30am) there wasn't much in the way of "over the top" people that you'd expect. Though there were two schmucks there wearing kilts (way to go living up to the stereotype guys). At this point I checked in with my folks as they were wanting to know how I was getting on.

There was a guy in front of me, he was pretty quiet until his boyfriend appears (he was holding his place in the queue). "The boyfriend" is one of those over the top camp kind of guys, some of the stuff he was saying was pretty funny, like his random assumption and guessing that every guy there was gay.

So as time was passing people were slowly filtering in, behind me a bunch of guys filtered in who (no offence to them) looked borderline identical. They had the semi spiked, messed up, heavily gelled/moussed hair. There were also two girls with them, judging by their ages I assumed they were their girlfriends (I was partially right). It got to a point where I couldn't see any further beyond that, so I decided to have a little peak as we moved round. At this point it sunk in, there was no turning back and I was definitely doing this thing.

Beyond the queue there were two massive Miller Beer cooler/storage thingys and there was a toilet just beyond that, if the coolers were opened it was pretty much the perfect setting for getting sauced, I'm assuming they filled and there were toilets...which is handy for me as I start pissing every few minutes when I start drinking.

Now in front of me, you had the two gay guys that I mentioned (the one that actually went through with it was a bit heavier than the other guy, so I'll refer to him as the heavy one from now on). Beyond that I could see two girls, but I again couldn't get a good look at them without making it obvious I was staring, so I did my best to make it look somewhat subtle. One looked slightly older than the other, but other than how they looked that's all I could tell from where I was standing.

I want to add the fact that when standing in the queue, it wasn't that clear to where we would actually be going. There were two sets of doors and I guess we could've been going through any of them. At about 8.40(ish)am a set of doors open briefly and that kind of settled the "where am I going?" query. I could just see in and all I saw was more of those safety barrier things, as well as a bunch of red curtains and a couple of people (who I'd find out were the people doing the initial "recruiting") were walking around, a guy in a sort of suit came walking out as well...dunno what that was about.

The doors we eventually went through are part of one of those grey walls.

After about another 10 or so minutes the queue started to gradually move forward, but it came to a grinding hault. I had moved round and could now see there were more people waiting behind, but I figured "fuck it" I was in front and it doesn't really matter.

Then a photographer came out with his "bag of toys" and a camera draped round his neck. So he began snapping various pictures (which I'm bound to be in a majority of), he moved round the queue and area getting more shots, he then backed his stuff and headed off. Now this is where I'm slightly puzzled, I dunno who or what he was taking the pictures for, I dunno if it was for a website, newspaper or magazine (so if anyone can help, gimme a shout so I can put my mind at ease).

The photographer, I still don't quite know why I took this one.

So at this point the doors finally opened, and all kinds of random shenanigans were awaiting our arrival.

Still to come...

What exactly made me weak at the knees?

Why was I pissed at the "heavy guy" in front of me?

Why was my elbow hurting when I got home?

and...how well did I do?

(along with everything else promised in part 1)
