My ongoing quest to balance out complaining with making lists of good things.

Good things:

1. Haircut! Is there anything better than haircut day? I find it hard to think of anything.

2. Mail! Monday, after the long weekend, was the best Postal Mail day ever. Jesse and I got, in no particular order: a totally unnecessary thank-you card from Katie, the Be Your Own Pet cd, the girly Belle & Sebastian tee shirt, a book of maps for our upcoming vacation (prepared expressly for us by AAA), the shoes I'm going to wear to the wedding, the purse I'm going to wear with the shoes, and New York magazine. Sweet haul, right? I'll probably never have another mail day that great for the rest of the year. The best part is that the shoes and purse came (separately) via an early-evening package delivery, and the thank-you card was misdelivered to my landlord and brought to us by a neighbor, so the doorbell just kept ringing and awesome things just kept coming. Shut up, I live for small pleasures. They're all I've got!

3. David Gordon Green! Specifically, his taste in music. (I actually disliked the song "Paper Planes" until he used it perfectly in the Pineapple Express trailer-thug life!-and now I get excited every time I hear it.) Even more specifically, I simultaneously adore and find hilarious the theme song for the Pineapple Express. Huey Lewis! Awesome. I read somewhere that he gave Huey Lewis three rules for the song: it had to explain the plot of the movie, it had to say the movie title as many times as possible, and it had to have a lot of alto sax. I should hate it, but it crosses the line back to good. I actually try not to listen too closely to the words because I don't want the plot of the movie spoiled for me. But believe me, I heard the important part. ("How did we get into this mess? Pineapple Express!") Go have a listen.
