Oh Acura....

TLX debut on the 16th. What a let down. Pretty much the prototype version has been neutered. Wheels=gone, bumpers=gone, LED fogs=gone. Everything about it just seem so average, so vanilla. I'm actually surprised that the I4 doesn't have fogs. And what's with the hidden exhaust look? It's not even close to a hybrid. Well, the tech is impressive, but it just seems so superfluous. Like all the nanny tech such as blind spot monitor, lane departure assist, etc. Basically making it easier for people to not even pay attention while driving. And what's with the electronic gear shifter? The hell is that. I duno...I just know I want a manual car next...if Acura doesn't have any offerings then, I may look elsewhere. Good thing Honda still offers manuals as an option, but I want SH-AWD. And I want to drive a manual by Honda since I keep hearing that they make the best manual transmissions around. Bleh, maybe in a few years a Type S will come out that actually is made for enthusiasts. Seems to me that Acura is just playing it safe..they need to take some risk and make something that have looks to die for and unmatched performance without all the excessive tech. I just don't get it. Honda has so much racing experience behind them, yet they cannot produce anything to showcase that heritage. And the NSX is still a ways away. If I loved automatics, I don't think I'd have a problem pulling the trigger on the TLX. But if a performance variant of the TLX comes out (which if history repeats itself, it should), and it comes with a 6spd MT, I'd buy it, even with it's vanilla look. I'm sure by then there would be aftermarket aero bumpers, and exhaust to really make the TLX look hot. Yeah, I think what the TLX really needs is a better looking front and rear bumper, bigger wheels, better looking wheels, a drop, and finished exhaust tips. Then it'll look real nice.

But I would get an electric car in the future though, for money saving purposes. Tesla would be my first though...
