I remembered a 50% sale that happened a few months after Isengard launched, so I was hopeful the same thing would happen for Rohan. Graphically, Crysis 2 definitely looks gorgeous, even the urban landscapes, which could have turned out boring. They are anything but, detailed and cluttered, a city literally under siege. What I liked most, however, was the juxtaposition of the familiar and the alien all in the same scene, like in many of the pics I've got here.

I finished Tron: Evolution some time ago, but was quite annoyed when I discovered that I'd missed quite a few Tron files, including Anon's and Gibson's. Barreleye
This is a real, live fish, but it looks more like a small underwater craft with a transparent capsule in front. The 'eyes' just above its mouth are actually nostrils. The real eyes are mounted on two short barrel-like structures, looking straight up out of the fish's transparent skull. Definitely gets my vote for strangest fish ever.

Finished Dragon Age: Origins yesterday. That's a solid two months, playing 2-3 hours a day, not to mention the holiday marathon between Christmas and New Years. Mass Effect took far longer of course (Mar to Nov last year), but that's because I stopped halfway to prepare for my oral defense. In Dragon Age, of course. I'd encountered it fairly early in the game, and it was depressingly hard to damage at that point. Combination of factors: unpatched game (the difficulty could be insane at times), low level party and lack of fire-resistant armor. I finally hit it when I reached level 20, and now I'm setting my sights on the High Dragon ( Read more... )

I have a fondness for Lego (Bionicle currently) and apparently my old lab knows it. When I went for a farewell lunch with them last week, they presented me with a gigantic gift-wrapped box. Really pleasant surprise when I saw what it actually was. And speaking of surprises, I was really happy to see that Lego revamped how they packed their pieces. ( Read more... )
