I'm taking names and checking them off my list as the students settle in, when a cute boy at the back catches my eye. Well, well, he seems like an eager beaver. But since he isn't in my face introducing himself, I'm betting he's not the one who sent the flowers.
I walk over. "Hi there! You would be...?" I ask, scanning my list.
"Jordy...oh, here you are." I check his name off on the list. "Great, good to have you. Have you been in any plays before?" He's pretty young looking compared to most of the other students, but sometimes that can be an asset.
I slip into the meeting, give my name to the teacher in charge, and quickly take a seat in the back, near Jordy. It just happens to be behind the tallest guy in the room, yay. I look around to see if Sophie or anyone else I know is here, and wait for a chance to ask Jordy if he talked to Dawn. She wasn't in class again today and she didn't reply to my email last night.
I wander into the room. Damn - I thought I was early and would get to talk to *Heather* alone, see if we could sort some stuff out, find out if she got the flowers (nice touch, methinks), but there's some like twerp here already - looks all of about 12, must be a freshman or something. Hmm...
I turn round and smile at the redhead that's just sat behind me - kinda cute in a nervous sorta way.
Ooh, tall and cute, good combo. I smile back at the guy.
"I didn't realize drama club was such a popular activity, this place is packed. Guess that means there won't be enough roles to go around," I say, pleased by the thought. "I'm Janice."
"We are a select, but I would like to think, talented group," I say, flashing her one of my thousand-watts grins. I offer my hand. "I'm Eric, Eric Hamilton. I'm President this year, so I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot of each other."
I wave at Sophie and make room for her to sit down. "Hey, Sophie, I was starting to worry you werren't gonna make it! You haven't missed much, she's just been taking everyone's names and stuff so far."
Okay, enough of this - I'm done with sitting with the plabs waiting for little Miss teacher to finish her role call or whatever this is. I stand up and walk to the front. Quickly introducing myself to Heather, I turn to the crowds without waiting for her response
( ... )
I watch Eric--this one has to be Eric--taking over the meeting as if I'm not there. Oh, he might have worded it like he was introducing the main act, but he's obviously an attention whore just like every other would-be star I've ever met.
On the other hand, he's gotten everyone quieted down and I'm not about to look a gift-horse in the mouth. I can use someone like that, and probably without him ever realizing it.
"First things first," I say, stepping out of the crowd. "I've decided that the play will be a group decision, so let's have some suggestions, and then we can vote on them. Then we'll need to discuss committees--costumes, crew and so forth."
"I have thought for some years now that what this school needs is some *quality* some *dignity* to it's performances. I would therefore suggest the most respected. I am talking, of course, about the Bard Himself. What ths school needs is *Shakespeare." I say, before taking a seat follwoing a job well done. pPerfect delivery, as always.
"Shakespeare? Well, I do love the classics, but Shakespeare can be rather demanding for actors without much experience. Many students find the language difficult to speak naturally, but I'm certainly open to it if the rest of the group is willing to give it a try."

I look at the group. "Any other suggestions?"
