A couple of weeks ago, I was clicking along, link to link, blog to blog, and ended up reading a Stargate fic. I had never seen Stargate, and the fic was non-con and novel-length. I don't know why, but...new series! I love dvdtv.
Oddly, the first season of MacGyver just came out. Oh, the eighties hair. I think half the reason I never paid attention to SG-1 was Richard Dean Anderson; I didn't know him from anything else. That was a mistake. Beautiful man (much better hair now), and funny. Stupid-funny, but it works. The way he talks keeps reminding me of the movie Fargo. "What the heck d'ya mean?"
It's interesting to start a new series, with all its balky starts, seeing the characters through several years of fan affection. I want to know when Jack calls Daniel "Spacemonkey" (it's not "blond boy ass," but it'll do). It's taken me the better part of the first season, but I'm finally getting the appeal of Daniel. But, oh, the nineties hair. The flop. His appeal is definitely character based. The wet t-shirt episode did nothing to change my opinion (it was a nice monologue-y ep for him). It did damp his hair down, though, and that was good.
Cassandra: I know. The stargate is a secret. And I was born in a place called...Toronto?
Canuck-bait! It's amusing to see so many alien worlds born of the BC backlot. Every time they show trees, I think about camping trips-broken tent poles and burnt pancakes. ☺
So I'm reading more fics, and it's fan fic appreciation week, and I can't contact the author , so I hope it's okay to link to this drinking game fic. I'm still on the first season, and I get most of the jokes:
"I was never used as a Goa'uld procreation aid," Sam smirked. Jack and Daniel turned on her, fixing her with baleful looks as they drank. Teal'c also drank.
"I can't believe I almost had your baby," Jack teased Daniel.
It's also the only fic I've ever read that bitches about nonoxynol-9. Thank you!
