Most of these meme things either intimidate or bore me, but this one caught my eye, i have a moment, so-
Make a list of things you can see around you without getting up: oh man, well, I'm in 'my girl's' apartment's living room, so it's all the usual- sofa, chairs, lamps, tv, plants, stuffed animals and dolls (two of everything, one for her and one for her sister), family photos, computer desk/nurse's desk, wheelchair, kitchen, her nephew's toys for when he comes to see gramma, my junk I bring with me every night... stuff.
How do you style your hair?
I lean over from the waist, brush it all out, stand up and curl it into a knot at the top of my head and hold it with a clamshell clip. Unless, of course, I'm wearing it down and beading the braids in it. Feast or famine.
What are you wearing now?
White
Tabi socks with Kanji in red and navy on them. Black
Havaianas with the Brazilian flag on the strap. Cotton denim trousers with a pair of old flannel pj pants hiding under for layers (WHAT? it gets cold, but not THAT cold, and I work in home care- everyone's asleep). A
Make Art, Not War t-shirt, and for a jacket I wore a
49ers Sweatshirtkind of like this one, that I found torn and abandoned at uni and took home and mended and rescued. Some people rescue dogs and cats, I rescue clothes.
Do you have some sort of secret superpower?
Yes. I can do remote viewing, for health problems. I am studying, slowly, with both
Caroline Myss and
Vianna Stibal and plan a medical intuitive practice in the near future as my means of income. If you would like to talk to me about this, either for a consult or just to talk, PM me.
What's the last thing you read/are currently reading?
Appaloosa / Robert Parker;
Through the Moral Maze / Robert Kane;
The Wild Swan: The Life and Times of Hans Christian Andersen / Monica Sterling
Do you nap a lot?
Christ yes. It's a side effect of working night shift (graveyard, though we try not to call it that in healthcare!). One of my favorite things in the WORLD is to lie down at night in the dark in my own bed and fall right asleep, no meds, no sleep mask, and just sleep the whole night through. What a gift.
Who was the last person you hugged?
Online? stormatdusk. IRL? My housemate. My life is a life full of hugs. I am, in fact, a certified Hug Provider (courtesy of a Therapeutic Touch class many many years ago in nursing school. Yes, this is California, land of the fruits, the nuts, and the flakes. Got Milk?). In case you ever need one, and no-one's around. Also, I got to participate in
Free Hugs in London two years ago, with my Pferde.
What's your current fandom/obsession/addiction?
The West Wing. Ken Burns' The Civil War. Band of Brothers. From the Earth to the Moon. Andersen's Fairy Tales (right back where I started from). Lord of the Rings. Pirates of the Caribbean.
What was the last thing you ate today?
Handmade green chile corn tortillas with avocado, wasabi Beemeister cheese, and watercress.
What was the last thing you said aloud?
Shhh, sh sh sh, go on back to sleep, lovey. (Am at work, 'my' girl's having an uncomfortable night, and I was sitting with her for a bit.)
What websites do you always visit when you go online?
LJ
IJ
My bank
whatever links whoever I'm talking to sends me- Google, Wikipedia, Amazon, Flickr.
A general run-through of the news sites, if I'm at work.
Last thing you bought:
CDs to burn things from the hard drive. An airline ticket. Books. Seventh Generation TP 12-pack on sale.
Things you recently got rid of:
A lot of school papers, both saved drafts on the hard drive and hard copies. Anyone need scratch paper? LOL
Some old favorite clothes- donated to my mom for my brother's baby's quilt.
I will in the very near future be putting some DVDs up for sale, including arcane ones with Elijah Wood and others- slimming down the collection, getting some funds for Europe 2009.
What are you listening to right now?
PBS: The Rat Pack: Conference of Cool. (KQED)
Oh no, now it's
Latin Pulse on Best of LinkTV, on KRCB, and it's about Venezuela being on the verge of war with Ecuador and Colombia. :(
But I do love LinkTV- without it I'd never know about
The Black Farmer. And I do need to know what's going on in this hemisphere south of Los Angeles. It just makes me sad, more war.
What's the last song that got stuck in your head?
I have to make a list. actually, I'll make a zip, since I'm inundating y'all with links anyway. Ashokan Farewell. Universe. Bibo No Aozora/Endless Flight/Babel. Hymn. I'll See Your Heart and I'll Raise You Mine. Rocks and Water. Same Mistake. The Luckiest. You've Got a Friend.
zipIf you could have any superpower, what would it be?
That's a hard one. With great power comes great responsibility. I'll get back to you on that. Maybe to remember and understand my life without being crushed by the weight of it, but being illuminated by it. Hm. To be a Bodhisattva I guess. And be graceful at it.
What is your favorite weather, and why?
Um. It's more a time of day: That lovely not-quite-daylight yet kind of silvery overcast, where it's going to be too warm and yellow-bright later, but right now it's dewy and fresh and limitless. Unless you mean sleeping weather, in which case, somewhere between 45 and 50 F, rainy and dark, not too stormy, and no roommates around. LOL! /demanding.
How are you?
Fine. Wishing I could just 'come up with' this last paper for that Damn Critical Thinking Course (c). Tired, and my shoulders ache. Ready to go home/ to come into about $10,000 tax-free/to go back to Europe. Happy enough.
What's something you'd like to say to someone right now?
I got my tickets!!! I'll be there just as we planned.
Say something to the person who tagged you.
No-one tagged me, but to
japanpeterpan- I still think there's room in this world (and in my writing life) for some Hook/Pan fic, and by god, one day, I'm going to write it. *nods*
Not going to tag anyone either, but hey- It's been interesting to do.
