july 5 -
I finished my Topic Paper for Prof. Tice's class. It's on video games in libraries.
july 6 -
I read Susan Campbell Bartoletti's book Black Potatoes: The Story of the Great Irish Famine, 1845-1850 It was interesting. I didn't know the Irish Famine was so harsh.
I started to talk to some new people in my classes.
I received Zena Sutherland's Children & Books in the mail. 9 dollars on a book that went for 155. Wow.
july 7 -
I read Peter Sis' The Wall: Growing Up Behind the Iron Curtain I thought it was OK but disorganized in presentation.
I listened to a whole lot of German songs to try to put me in the mood for Germany - Spain in the World Cup. My playlist:
klaus nomi - simple man
kraftwerk - neon lights
DAF - der mussolini
Can - Don't Turn on the Light, Leave me Alone
Nina Hagen - African Reggae
Nena - 99 Luftballons
Afrob & Ferris MC - Reimemonster
FLER - Deutscha Bad Boy
FLER - Neue Deutsche Welle
Unfortunately, it was all for naught....as Germany lost 1-0 to Spain.
I also read An American Plague: The True and Terrifying Story of the Yellow Fever Epidemic of 1793 by Jim Murphy. I really enjoyed this book. I found it interesting.
yesterday -
I started talking to this dude named Mike in Prof. Smith's class. He lived in Philly. We talked a lot about Philly. He seems like a pretty chill guy.
