I feel like a bit of a liar because I celebrated my birthday this weekend, but I had to! My real birthday is this weekend, but this weekend is the weekend I leave for New York.
Guilt aside, I had a wonderful weekend. The weather forecast didn't look so good for Saturday, but it ended up being perfect. It was a really nice day to be out at Huntington Beach. I wasn't expecting too many people to come, but I ended up being pleasantly surprised. Fresh fruit, smash ball, kites, and of course, my favorite people, it was the perfect beach day.
After the beach, a small group of us went to dinner at Kabuki, and it was so good. Then it was fun times at the District. The DJ was awful, but I think because I was with such good company, I had a blast and danced pretty much the whole time. I definitely did not change out of my swimsuit or beach clothes for dinner or the District, so I looked a little bit like a hipster mess.
Yesterday made me really appreciate my friends and family. My mom and sister for helping me prepare for the day at the beach, especially Linh because she wasn't feeling well and had finals to study for. And my friends for finding cute ways around my "no gifts" request. The gift cards were a very sweet and clever!
I almost want to say it was the best birthday ever because it was just so fun and so perfect. It's weekends like these that will make me miss California.
