Well, due to some foreseen events, like the fact that Russian English teachers are prepared to teach English to Russians, but are yet ill prepared to teach Chinese students, the trip to China has been postponed.
So, this means that there will be material writing and rewriting, new preparations and learning and practice of teaching students that are not speakers of Russian (or the teachers native language, basically) and book revisions and preparations.
Of course, while this effects me on a time level, I already teach students that are not learning English from my native level--because English is my native language.
Also, many of these teachers have a certificate saying that they can teach English to non-native speakers, so I'm thinking that certificates are just like ornamentation. I do know that some of them are very good teachers, and know that they would do fine, but everyone needs to be prepared and books need revised to use the same basic structures of their method to teach English to another culture.
Besides, the basic patterns of NLP that are formed in the method for Russians should actually work out for pattern molding and understanding across cultures.
Alas, I am ready now, and don't know what will come by April (our new departure date). For me, a lot can change in a few months. So, we'll see what happens. But if I don't get to go, I guess I'll honestly be disappointed. I was very excited about the opportunity [I still am].
On top of everything else, my mother is to come and visit me this summer. If she is coming, I prefer it to be to St. Petersburg, since this is where I live and where my other 'family' is.
Oh, how fate can change with the blink of an eye.
