I've gotten almost everything working under the new kernel. I won't go through all the steps here, because it's very complicated. After compiling in the interfaces for my hard disk (always helpful) and properly compiling the modules, I now have wireless networking, X11, sound, and the jump drive working. There was a short period when I could use wireless but not X11 due to a missing module for pointing devices, but I got that fixed. The only thing left to solve is DRI (video hardware acceleration). Hopefully, I can get that solved soon.
My lips are in bloom, and I think that has been aggravated by the temperature in the room, since I have to keep it very cold to prevent the AC from spewing hot, stinky air into the room. :( I always feel weird when this happens, and I often feel small and sad and helpless. It passes, but I wish I didn't have this illness.
Yesterday, I got in my car to go to the store, turned the key, and heard clicking. So, I think the battery has reached its end-of-life. I'll try to get it fixed on Monday.
I'm off to the library to try to get some background and to shake off this lethargy.

linux, x_hsi, moping
