Don't take my word for it. I'm just a paramedic

The other night a client had an allergic reaction. She's a new client and nobody knew her that well.
Now, I don't usually go to medical back ups because I just end up pissed off. This time was no different.
When I walked in the client was sitting on the couch tripodding with audible wheezing and lyrngial edema. I took her pulse and listened to her lungs - diminished lower lobes and wheezing. The first responder started yellin at me because she couldn't get a pulse on the shitty 30 dollar pulse ox. Wouldn't accept the pulse I already took. I asked if she had an epi pen and got yelled at again that she doesn't need an epi pen. Err... I just want to know if she had one. Allergic reactions have a tendency to get worse fast.
I said that based on what I was seeing that I was concerned. And the first responder had the audacity to say "in medical opinion she has medical reason to be in respiratory distress". I almost shut my pants. The kid ate a food she's known to be allergic to. And in your medical opinion? You went to a fucking weekend long first responder class. But by all means, don't listen to me. I'm just a lowly paramedic with 12 years of field experience.
