Yesterday, I had my first day of work. It consisted of filling out the necessary hiring paperwork (I got on as a direct hire, instead of temp!!!) and reading a bunch of SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures. The way you're supposed to do things so you're doing it like everyone else in the company. They keep things repeatable). It also involved being given a safety tour by an Awesome Old Guy! His name is Steve. He looks like an old sailor. He's not too tall, has a big bushy gray/white beard, wears suspenders and one of those cute little billed caps, and has a sandpapery voice. I think this just may work out.
Last night was a blast. We went out with Miles, Rachel, Katie, and some other friends to see a show put on by a friend of Katie's. It was called the Big Rock Show by Scotty Iseri. It's a crazy little (mainly) 1 man show. Scotty acts like a rock star and sings some really irreverent songs (one of which is about Jerry Falwell... That one is awesome). I don't think I've laughed so hard in months. Anyone in the Portland area who reads this should go check it out. Check it out at
