Hello kids! I saw the BEST MUSICAL EVER, the other night. What's it called you ask?
Why it's
A VERY POTTER MUSICAL OF COURSE!
I recommend this to EVERYONE. But especially potter fans. I havent read the books in a while but everything was hilarious to me, it's a great great musical put on by a bunch of college students and recent grads. also the dude who plays voldemort has a totally slammin bod wtf. Voldemort should not look attractive! Srsly I am so glad he got to be shirtless for almost the ENTIRE time. Speaking of shallow things, the dude who plays harry in the musical (Darren Criss) is approx 24982092x more attractive to me than Dan radcliffe ever was. But then he DOES play guitar! and can sing soulful power ballads! Seriously this was just a funny musical to me until the next to last song "You're not alone" and that was the point where I was like HOLY CRAP these guys are truly talented! It does take talent and effort to set up something like this but these arent just practical jokesters armed with prep school uniforms and access to instruments and sound equipment. They are the real deal and they could totally do serious musicals if they wanted to, they got skills, but they simply chose to make a silly musical about harry potter and show it for free. How awesome IS THAT? (I am so keeping an eye out for future projects from these guys. these are our generation's puccinis, tchaikovskys and mozarts...no rly.) and also the girl (yes girl: Lauren Lopez) who plays Malfoy? HYSTERICAL. After the play she was totally my favorite. So so funny. Everyone was great but I think she and Darren were the stand outs.
I'm such a nerd that I joined ontdpigfarts soon after watching the musical. If you like it I suggest you join the comm too. (I got sorted into ravenbawww! apparently this means I'm classy. I'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO BE CLASSY! YAY)
and Props to ohvienna for pimpin this in her lj or I'd never have known ok I would have probably known about eventually since nothing stays secret for long in fandom but it would have taken much longer! and watching it so made my day. It will make your day too guys! OMG watch it!
Skins: My God I'm sure you are all sick of whining about how much Season 3 annoyed me but I really just want to say this one last thing then I swear I wont bitch about Skins ever again (or rather not until S4 next year)
I finally saw ep 7 from S2 which is Effy's episode and it was not only amazing and emotional and hella dramatic but Effy was SO fucking cool in it! and what kills me about it she was ten times more interesting, active, likeable and well developed in that SINGLE episode than she was ALL of season 3!WTF? I mean I was willing to believe until I saw this that the writers just had no clue what to do with her to begin with and that the only reason it didnt show before hand was cause she had such a small role but look here she was the center character and she was fabulous and so well written! So many complex layers there of her character yet to be discovered! and now I'm so angry cause if they could write her like this in S2 they damn well could have in S3. Where was devious but ultimately good hearted effy and her machinations in S3? She was such a passive character there simply put as an object to fought over by two prats ie the male characters and I hated it then and now I hate it EVEN more because she was this dynamic fascinating female character and in the end she got stuck as the "love interest" and nothing more than a pretty face. It just feels so unfair cause after this ep I wanted to know more about her and see her do more awesome shit and I felt so irritated knowing already that I never would. Bah! Oh well no reason to keep harping. One day I will to ease my own suffering, write up my version of S3 skins. Basically what would have happened if they let me write the show. Then maybe I can finally fucking drop this. (Pandora it should be said was HILARIOUS in ep7 and I had no clue she appeared in S2! lol her crush on tony and his sheer horror at her antics, so so cute <3 I miss this pandora why did she turn all salacious and angsty in S3? *grumbles*)
For some positivity I want to say that I am enjoying Season 2 of skins SO MUCH. I am like glued to my comp screen and I'm already down to the last 3 eps if though I only started watching yesterday. I cant say that it's more cohesive than S1 and it's definitely more melodramatic but I really do feel convinced by all the emotions exploding all over the place. S2 is alot more intense and dramatic than S1 but still manages to have quite a quirky sense of humor. Watching Cassie meltdown into this really scary darker version of herself and Tony rise from the ashes of his accident like the beautiful dark phoenix that he is, and of course Sid loses his shit repeatedly and possibly showing more spine in a single episode of this season than he did in all the eps last season combined. I love wimpy sid too though ( "I- I am objecting!) cutie pie <3 and Also Sketch, I love her crazy pyscho ass. I feel so bad for her though I hope she finds some peace or love before the season ends. I died laughing at her last encounter with anwar, when he finally realizes she's been using him to replace maxxie and getting him to dress like him ("You're fucking dumped!) I laughed so hard. I think my favorite thing so far though was the Chris episode, poor Chris he broke my heart so much again. How such a goofy moron such a tragic sweetheart at the same time? I loved that Jal chose to help him and while I originally questioned the idea of them getting together, Chris's speech to her at the end of the episode and seeing him try so hard to be mature and responsible for once in his life was really moving and totally convinced me that Jal is a good thing for him and he would be good to her. I forsee bad things though. and damn Jal is probably the most put together reasonable compassionate girl on the show, but SHE ends up pregnant!? Talk about unfair show! I wanted to see her become a star of classical music and get rich/famous in europe. Then Chris would move with her and keep the flat clean and take care of their adorable dogs and later kids. and Possibly run a consulting business on the side or smth IDEK. it would have been fly.
I'll probably post one more time about skins when I see the rest of S2 and after that it's back to blogging about other things until January (when S4 starts airing and yes i'm watching it cause I'm a masochist and also love JJ and Naomi too much not to)
Leverage 05 - I LOVED THIS EP SO MUCH OMG. I feel like Hardison's disguises get more hilarious every week.and I'm amused that Eliot's disguise merely required him to go around looking scary and ominous which is probably how he usually looks. and of course Parker as the newbie reporter, she was adorable! and As were her attempts to steal "badly". I love how S2 is switching it up on us. Letting Hardison do Parker's usual role last week while Sophie took Nate's role this week and Eliot got to do some hacking! Nice! For a second when he said he didnt know whether the dashes go before or after Http on a web URL I thought he was serious and became afraid. Luckily he was just fuckin with hardison's head. HA. I love how each week it seems like they are doing a satire of a popular film genre or Tv trope. Last week was very slapstick and sitcommy and the week before had a very Mission Impossible feel to it. This week it was all about political thrillers clearly. I got a total flashback to State of Play in that scene in the abandoned warehouse. It reminded me so much of a similar scene in SoP, until Nate showed up decked out in military garb that is. General!Nate was also a riot, he totally grunted all of his lines. I want to say more but it will only come out as "GLEE GLEE GLEE". Definitely my favorite so far though. I'm looking forward to ep 7 though, it looks we'll be getting to the more intense plotlines then.
College resumes for me in 5 days. :(
