[Old Victorian homes next to graveyards are creepy enough without also giving off the spiritual equivalent of full-body shivers. Uryuu had suspected something strange the first time he'd passed the home, out on a training run nearly a month ago. Since it was Dark at the time, he'd convinced himself the strange reiatsu was the result of some skulking group of corrupt spirits - the usual nighttime fare, in other words.
Then he'd passed by the home in the daytime, only to feel the same. Casual questions on shopping trips in the area revealed that the home was a mortuary run by an eccentric, but nothing more. Even then, Uryuu had convinced himself not to poke around. There was too much else that needed his attention.
...But then he'd found himself passing by the home once again, this time with an unusually open schedule. If something unseemly was happening inside, if someone was toying within the spiritual web of the afterlife - wasn't it his duty as a Quincy to investigate?
And he was still so curious.
Thus Uryuu found himself walking up the creaking steps of the Mortuary, staring at the peeling paint on the door and mentally rehearsing what fake funeral he'd say he was planning for in order to look around the parlor.]
