[ Yaha limps through the household - few hours until night when he would search for Sir Cohen. He wonders if the artist will become a Darkness monster, and merely wish to know that he is "alive" somewhere. But that is set carefully out of his thoughts to be obsessed with on a later date. Compartmentalizing his obsessive thoughts and actions behind said thoughts really does help to ensure that he remains relatively on-track.

He spoke with James earlier through the video function on the NV. Noticed the bruises. Noticed how irritable he seemed. Noticed how he seemed unhappy toward Snake, but not in the mood to speak to him or have the elf berate his brother. His eyes narrowed by the end of their talk and that is what brought him to the residence now.

His hand settles against the wall as he looks around the corner, watching the look that Snake gave Liquid's door. (Not nice, not nice.) It is not tolerable to have Liquid be bothered or in any situation that does not foster his healing. So many reasons why, but for the moment, he supposes ( ... )

[Silently, the door creaks open a little at the sound of that voice. Liquid sits slumped against the inside of the door, his head leaning against the cool wood, listening. Why would Yaha need to talk with his brother? From here, he can't see them, but he can hear them. That's enough for now. He'll intervene if he has to.

Liquid has not felt right for a few days now. Alternating between debilitating shame and violent rage, he's split himself between isolation in his room and creeping out to check on Kadaj. It's more troublesome than he would have expected. But he can't face Snake right now. Snake wouldn't have gotten caught, paralysis magic or no. Snake was too perfect to get caught. Just like before. Just like always. Always the victor in a competition that didn't even make sense.]

[Snake's far from perfect, and he's not infallible, as Liquid had seen more than once back at Shadow Moses. A Sniper, a rookie; Ocelot with an electric torture bed. The memory of it still buzzes dully in his bones and turns his stomach when he thinks of what had happened to Meryl. So much of his irritation now is much like that. Helplessness. Guilt. About the situation itself, if not for Liquid in particular.]

[Unfortunately his frustration and Liquid's presence in the house again mean he's rather on edge. Before he's even taken in the meaning behind Yaha's words, even before he's really realized just who it was; he's pinned Yaha bodily against the wall, one forearm pressed firmly against the elf's neck while the other hand reaches down for his weapon.]

...you?

[He blinks and steps back, but his hand stays near his gun. Confused for a moment, and then his voice settles back into a growl.]

How the hell did you get in here?

[Oh, it really is hard to stay mad at Snake when he is now pressed against the wall. His head giving a little tilt as he stares at him (as much as it can, anyway), feeling the consciousness threaten to fade as the air is both forced out of his lungs and kept from being brought back in.

He lets out a soft sigh when he is released as his hand rests on his neck. No, he really has to focus on his anger and not how lovely it was to be so weak beneath the soldier's hands. Fingers rub carefully over his skin a few times before they fold behind his back.

Bending at the waist, he leans down until he has to turn his head to look up at Snake.]

Always me, it seems. [A beat.] Magic.

[Snake exhales shortly and irritably. Magic. Still doesn't believe a word of it. He'd have to recheck the locks.]

Funny.

[His intentions derailed by Yaha's appearance, he reaches for his cigarettes, at least. Down to his last few, by now, thanks to the fact that he'd been chain-smoking restlessly for a while. Snake pulls one out of the pack with his teeth and tips his head toward Liquid's door.]

Liquid's in there.

[Conveniently ignoring the fact that Yaha had said he wanted to talk to him.]

Is it?

[Another slight tilt of his head, childish and amused in turn. He takes the time to look to where it is that Snake gestures, nodding slightly in turn, but says nothing else.

Yaha smiles lightly before reaching into his jacket pocket to take out a lighter. It takes some time before he flicks the flame on and holds it out like he will light Snake's cigarette before tossing it at the man to set his clothes on fire.

And his smile vanishes for a few seconds.]

I said I wanted to talk to you. Please stop ignoring what it is I'm saying to you.

What the-?!

[Luckily a lighter flame won't do too much damage on its own. Throw an aerosol can into the equation, and that's another matter entirely, as Snake knows all too well. He steps back swiftly and stoops to retrieve the fallen lighter before it can set the whole damn house up in flames, snapping it closed angrily.]

What is wrong with you?

[Seriously what the hell?]

[He laughs softly as his smile returns. The laugh is starting to sound a little more real. Eventually, it would be real, or least, everyone would think it is even himself.]

A lot, actually.

[His shoulders give a little shrug as he says it in an off-handed manner, despite the truth behind the answer. But so long as he knows there is so much wrong inside, he is sane. It is those that don't that are insane -- like Hanch. His eyes narrow slightly as he looks off to the side, but returns his gaze to Snake. Friendly and kind like he had not just tried to set him on fire. (Shame it didn't do much.)]

Presently, you are what is wrong with me.

Me?

[News to him. He narrows his eyes and sets his jaw, the lighter balled up in one fist, his other hand on the handle of his gun.]

You hurt Liquid.

[He raises his index finger to wag it lightly at Snake, before his gaze slips to the man's hands. How interesting and lovely it would be to be shot and burned-- his head shakes lightly as he really cannot engage in those desires at the moment.]

He just came back to us and you hurt him. I can't accept you being that way, Snake. [His tone does not change from the conversational one as he leans forward, smiling bright enough to show a little white of his teeth.] Not when you are so much lower in comparison. You're nothing when it comes to him. Nothing but a sad little shadow of his greatness.

[Another laugh.] Know your place as a failure. [His gaze becomes unfocused as he stares at Snake's face, seeing Liquid as he should, and he wishes he could cause more pain but knows that will be difficult.]

Really, it is as I said before ... the only reason you are safe is because you look so much like him. [A beat as he steps back, hands open in surrender. Like he is being attacked.] I really want us to be friends, Solid Snake ( ... )

[Hurt him? Snake legitimately doesn't understand how Yaha had come to that conclusion. He hasn't seen Liquid since his brother went and locked himself up. Unless he means the fight, but. Well. They fight a lot.]

I don't give a damn about what you can accept. Or what you think of me. I don't take orders from you.

[His voice is hard, expression stony. As usual, there's little indication of what he's thinking, though his fist tightens around the sharp edges of the lighter and something equal parts pained and defiant flickers behind his eyes at being told to know his place.]

[Snake wouldn't shoot Yaha just for pissing him off, though he might punch him. It's damn tempting. And that last part sounds very much like a threat.]

And I don't need friends like you either.

[His shoulders shook once as he laughed once more. The laughter continues as he settles his hand against his mouth to stifle it. Not real, not real, but he likes to think he found what Snake said funny.

Eventually, he calms himself as he tilts his head on its side, resting his ear against his shoulder as he looks at the man.]

You do need friends like me, Solid Snake. You really do.

[The shade of his eyes shift from brown to gold -- color filling even the white as it glows even in the brightness of the hall. Doesn't take orders from him? He'll see if this soldier actually can resist his charms. Actually is as marvelous and wonderful as Liquid is as he raises his gaze enough to have eye contact with him.]

...What the hell?

[Well that's not creepy at all. Suddenly that "magic" thing sounds a little less farfetched.]

[He says nothing in return at first, merely casts his hypnosis. To peel back the layers and take hold of his mind. Yaha wonders if it has worked and holds out his hand to Snake, palm up.

His tone is sweet and affectionate as his fingers gesture lightly in the air between them.]

Give me your weapon, you complete failure.

[His hand twitches on his weapon at the instruction, but he's slow to react. Snake was created and raised a soldier. Deep down, there's a part of him that likes to follow orders. Even finds comfort in it. That impulse, strengthened and taken advantage of by Yaha's control, is warring violently with his own considerable will.]

...

[Something very much like fear rises within him. This is wrong. Almost familiar, in a way that makes him think distantly of strange music and black leather and a girl with red hair and a gun to her head.]

[Finally, as if with effort, he releases the handle of his gun, curling the hand into a fist. In one swift movement he decks Yaha as hard as he can manage across the jaw instead.]

Go to hell.

[Falling backward against the wall, he slides down it as he starts to laugh once more. His hand touches his mouth and checking to see if blood is present -- it is.

His shoulders drop a little as he hums before returning to his feet. A heavy sigh as he looks up at Snake once more as his eyes return to brown.]

So you do have a bit of Liquid in you. I'm so happy. [His smile widens considerably. Yes, that is the reason.] Please, keep that in mind next time you do anything to him, all right, Solid Snake.

All right?
