You hurt Liquid.

[He raises his index finger to wag it lightly at Snake, before his gaze slips to the man's hands. How interesting and lovely it would be to be shot and burned-- his head shakes lightly as he really cannot engage in those desires at the moment.]

He just came back to us and you hurt him. I can't accept you being that way, Snake. [His tone does not change from the conversational one as he leans forward, smiling bright enough to show a little white of his teeth.] Not when you are so much lower in comparison. You're nothing when it comes to him. Nothing but a sad little shadow of his greatness.

[Another laugh.] Know your place as a failure. [His gaze becomes unfocused as he stares at Snake's face, seeing Liquid as he should, and he wishes he could cause more pain but knows that will be difficult.]

Really, it is as I said before ... the only reason you are safe is because you look so much like him. [A beat as he steps back, hands open in surrender. Like he is being attacked.] I really want us to be friends, Solid Snake. Can't we be friends?

[Hurt him? Snake legitimately doesn't understand how Yaha had come to that conclusion. He hasn't seen Liquid since his brother went and locked himself up. Unless he means the fight, but. Well. They fight a lot.]

I don't give a damn about what you can accept. Or what you think of me. I don't take orders from you.

[His voice is hard, expression stony. As usual, there's little indication of what he's thinking, though his fist tightens around the sharp edges of the lighter and something equal parts pained and defiant flickers behind his eyes at being told to know his place.]

[Snake wouldn't shoot Yaha just for pissing him off, though he might punch him. It's damn tempting. And that last part sounds very much like a threat.]

And I don't need friends like you either.

[His shoulders shook once as he laughed once more. The laughter continues as he settles his hand against his mouth to stifle it. Not real, not real, but he likes to think he found what Snake said funny.

Eventually, he calms himself as he tilts his head on its side, resting his ear against his shoulder as he looks at the man.]

You do need friends like me, Solid Snake. You really do.

[The shade of his eyes shift from brown to gold -- color filling even the white as it glows even in the brightness of the hall. Doesn't take orders from him? He'll see if this soldier actually can resist his charms. Actually is as marvelous and wonderful as Liquid is as he raises his gaze enough to have eye contact with him.]

...What the hell?

[Well that's not creepy at all. Suddenly that "magic" thing sounds a little less farfetched.]

[He says nothing in return at first, merely casts his hypnosis. To peel back the layers and take hold of his mind. Yaha wonders if it has worked and holds out his hand to Snake, palm up.

His tone is sweet and affectionate as his fingers gesture lightly in the air between them.]

Give me your weapon, you complete failure.

[His hand twitches on his weapon at the instruction, but he's slow to react. Snake was created and raised a soldier. Deep down, there's a part of him that likes to follow orders. Even finds comfort in it. That impulse, strengthened and taken advantage of by Yaha's control, is warring violently with his own considerable will.]

...

[Something very much like fear rises within him. This is wrong. Almost familiar, in a way that makes him think distantly of strange music and black leather and a girl with red hair and a gun to her head.]

[Finally, as if with effort, he releases the handle of his gun, curling the hand into a fist. In one swift movement he decks Yaha as hard as he can manage across the jaw instead.]

Go to hell.

[Falling backward against the wall, he slides down it as he starts to laugh once more. His hand touches his mouth and checking to see if blood is present -- it is.

His shoulders drop a little as he hums before returning to his feet. A heavy sigh as he looks up at Snake once more as his eyes return to brown.]

So you do have a bit of Liquid in you. I'm so happy. [His smile widens considerably. Yes, that is the reason.] Please, keep that in mind next time you do anything to him, all right, Solid Snake.

All right?

[Snake blinks hard, breathing somewhat harshly as his head finally seems to clear. With clarity came a rush of anger. That creepy son of a bitch.]

[He tosses Yaha's lighter down onto the floor in front of him, ignoring the entreaty entirely.]

Try that again and I'll shoot you.

Oh, do you promise?

[He smiles brighter still at the threat. It is nice to be threatened, nice to be given the attention. Means that he is worth enough to Snake to want to hurt, to want to deal with.

His shoulders shake a little in amusement once more before he picks the lighter up. Only has it because he likes the ability to make fire on command. Compacted magic spell of the current ages.]

I'm so glad we're friends, Solid Snake.

We're not friends.

[Snake watches warily, that much more unnerved now that Yaha's proven his claims of being "magic."]

Stay the hell away from me.

We are friends. We really are, Solid Snake.

[Yaha likes saying his name. Gives more purpose and connection to what it is that he is saying as it relates wholly onto the person that he is speaking to.]

I'm afraid I can't. We're so connected to each other now. So, I'll be coming over a lot now just to see you. Because, I want to make sure that you're happy. You are happy, aren't you? No, I suppose not. Not with how troubled your head is. It's full of so much ... [His gaze slips away as he sighs.] Such a broken little soldier. Not at all as perfect and whole like my Liquid.

We're not-hngh.

[He breaks off with a frustrated noise. "Snake" and "troubled" go hand in hand. Yaha's analysis is close enough that Snake hesitates and considers for a moment the possibility that the elf had seen inside his head. Like Mantis. "I've seen true evil. You, Snake. You're just like the Boss. No, you're worse. Compared to you, I'm not so bad."]

[He grunts distractedly, shaking his head like a dog and running a hand wearily over his face.]

Don't bother. I don't need your help. Go talk to Liquid.

[His smile widens as he does see that he has gotten to Snake. (That's right. You can't say anything to Liquid. You can't call him crazy. You can't do anything to him, because you're the one who is crazy.)

He reaches out to poke Snake's forehead not caring if he does or does not touch as he slips around to walk past him.]

No. I can't help something so broken, anyway.

[He holds his hands behind his back, lighter between the two of them. Humming a soft song, he heads toward Liquid's room, but cannot leave the conversation without adding:]

I think we have a wonderful chat, don't you? [Yaha does not look back to see his expression, and finally decides to leave him alone with a farewell.] See you later, Solid Snake.

[It's just as well that he didn't turn to look, because Snake's expression is carefully blank as he watches Yaha wander down the hall. In fact he doesn't move at all for a while beyond the slight stiffening of shoulders when Yaha reaches out to touch him.]

...

[It takes him a second or two longer than it should. But finally he mutters a curse under his breath at the sendoff, spinning on his heel to grab his coat and leave the others alone in the house for good.]

[It's a good thing that Snake's left, because Liquid can no longer contain his laughter. Loud, brash and energetic, as he leaves the door to go sit at the windowsill it riccochets off the walls of the almost-closed room. He leans back against the frame of the window, looking outside like a princess staring out of a tower as he laughs.

Oh, Snake.

You're so funny to torment.]

[A bright enough smile came as he slipped into the room. Yes, that sort of laughter that has so much joy -- he commits it to memory as he will try to recreate it in his own. Make the lie that much more real.]

I take it that you loved all I said to your brother?
