[oo4] alarm clocks

Mar 08, 2011 20:08

[the camera turns on to show Masa sitting on a bed in one of the Tower Apartments, his hair a bit of a mess, and a rather big frown on his face. he lifts a hand to rub at the back of the neck - it's obvious he's not feeling too good, his nose is a bit red, and his hand shakes slightly]What is an alarm clock? It's something to do with time, I can ( Read more... )

It makes noise to wake you up. You have to set it for the right time.

Ah-! I thought it was something like that.

You can buy one at the mall? And... [a glance to the side] These buses, those are the large machines that move on the street?

At the mall, sure- I actually have one loaded right up on my NV.

And those are buses, yep- the long ones that pick people up at the bust stop signs. The smaller ones are just cars.

The NV can do that kind of thing? How?

[he peers at it curiously for a moment]

The long ones. How does one navigate these buses? I've walked everywhere.

Are you feeling okay?

And an alarm clock is a clock that you can set to wake you up at a certain time.

It's just a bit of a cold.

[he frowns a bit]

I don't know where to buy one or how to work one.

You can usually find them in electronics stores. There's probably a lot of those around. And I'm sure the people there could tell you how to work it, or I could help you figure it out.

I'll have to look at the mall, though someone told me just now that this NV can do it.

It takes time. [ To settle in, that is. ]

[he looks a little sad, maybe a little downtrodden]

It seems to be so much easier for everyone else.

[ Izaya leaned forward on his desk, crossing his fingers under his chin. ]

Are you sick? You don't look so well.

[almost as if in response, Masa sneezes and sniffs a bit, giving a weak half-smile]

I've been feeling a bit under-the-weather. I can't say I'm lacking sleep, but it isn't the same as when I was ill before.

I still find myself looking to the sun for the time. Habit, I suppose.

[A quick look through replies and it seemed his question was mostly answered. Minato smiled lightly.]

I take it this world is quite different for you as well.

I doubt I'll ever stop...it's useful anyway.

[he frowns and nods a little, heaving a sigh]

It's very, very different. We didn't have nearly this level of technology.

Good, then, that the hours of the day here are quite similar to what we're used to hm? Though admittedly I find my guesstimates to be slightly off at times. Suppose that's where the clocks come in handy.

[Of course there had been clocks back home as well, but Minato spent more time on the field than he did at home for most of his life. Alarms were more a convenience than a necessity.]

It takes a little getting used to, but I can't say some of it isn't enjoyable. Have you had much difficulty adapting?

I'm glad he appeared to me. <3 frogpup March 10 2011, 05:15:30 UTC
Not so similar. It was difficult to sleep at first, because my body felt it was day when here it was night. A strange feeling, and I'm not sure why I got it, but I suppose it had to do with the position of the sun. I'm growing accustomed to it, finally.

[he doesn't understand time zones - he doesn't understand nearly everything about being in another country. Japan in his time was not the most...open...to other cultures, samurai education or not]

Some of it is good, but most of it is a little scary. Things are different, I don't know how to work most of the machines, or the stove, but they have cold food and I can still walk most places, so it's alright.

An alarm clock can be anything that wakes you up at a set time.

They said that. Also that one can be put on the NV. [he sighs] This world is so complicated.

I could tell you how to put it on the NV. [Because hey this place is actually backwards with what he's used to.]
